The week-long religion ceremony at the Jethavanarama Temple at Kalatuawawa, honoring the newly constructed Stupa and featuring the veneration of over 100 prominent monks from the Malwathu chapter of the Siyam Nikaya, commenced on 23 March 2024. Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Commander of the Security Forces (West), warmly received the visiting Chief of Staff upon his arrival.

Major General S W M FERNANDO WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the Commander Security Forces (West), made an official visit to 611 Infantry Brigade on 13 March 2024. Subsequently, the visiting Commander who was honoured with a Guard Turnout at the 611 Infantry Brigade Headquarters in Kegalle was warmly welcomed by the Commander of 611 Infantry Brigade. Thereby, comprehensive briefings on role and tasks and the present situation of the respective AOR were done by the Commander of 611 Infantry Brigade. Meanwhile, the Commander Security Forces (West) was invited to plant saplings in the respective camp premises to mark his arrival.

The program for the first day at Security Forces Headquarters (West) in 2024 began on January 1st with a flag hoisting ceremony. Major General S W M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the Commander Security Forces (West), and Brigadier KTP De Silva RSP ndu psc, the Brigadier General Staff, Security Forces (West), raised the National flag and the Army flag respectively. The National anthem and the Army song were played, followed by a two-minute silence honoring all fallen war heroes who sacrificed to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Motherland.
