  • A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED HOUSE FOR A LOW INCOME FAMILY

    To coincide with the 72nd Army Anniversary, a newly-constructed house was handed over to a low income family of Mrs. Pradeepa Niroshini living in Attanagalle area on 21st October 2021 by the Commander 141 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Pradeep Gamage.

  • DISTRIBUTION OF OXYGEN CONCENTRATORS FOR MOST NEEDED HOSPITALS IN THE WESTERN PROVINCE

    Due to the spread of COVID – 19 pandemic in the country and the rapid spread of the virus among the infectees, as an emergency measure, on the directions of the Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva, with the instruction of the commander SF (West) Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, on Saturday(2) distributed six Oxygen Concentrators among the Kurunegala General Hospital, Sri Jaywardanapura General Hospital, and De Soysa Maternity Hospital Colombo. Two Oxygen Concentrators are handed over to Kuliyapitiya General Hospital for the betterment of the serious patients, affected by COVID-19 on Sunday (3).

  • OXIMETERS DISTRIBUTED PROGRAMME FOR FAMILIES UNDER SELF- QUARANTINE

    As per the directions promulgated by the Comd SF (West) Maj Gen D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division along with the 144 Infantry Brigade and 2nd (V) Battalion SLLI, launched a programme to distribute oximeters, that had been gifted to the Commander of the Army in order to distribute among the needy families in Athurugiriya, Mulleriyawa and Kaduwela areas on 01 October 2021.

  • MONTHLY FLAG HOISTING CEREMONY OF SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS (WEST)

    Security Forces Headquarters (West) conducted flag hoisting ceremony in this morning (1). The Comd SF (West) Maj Gen D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, together with the Brigadier administration and quartering of SF (West) Brig G D R U K Galhenage hoisted the National flag and the Army flag respectively. Few senior officers, officers and other rankers participated for the ceremony adhering to the health guidelines in order to prevent COVID - 19.

  • A ONE DAY TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR OUTBOARD MOTOR OPERATORS OF SEARCH AND RESCUE TEAM

    On the conceptual direction of the Commander Security Forces (West) Major D G S Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu , a special boat training course was designed in order to enhance the soldiers’ ability on handling Outboard Mortar (OBM) and its techniques. Similarly, with the participation of nineteen (1x18) troops from 2(V) SLLI, a short term course was conducted by the instructors of Special Boat Squadron - Special Force at Kalaniya river bank within the 2nd Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry AOR from 20 May to 27 May 2021.

  • SF (WEST) BEGINS ANOTHER VACCINATION DRIVE AT BODHIRAJARAMAYA ARMY TEMPLE PANAGODA

    Strengthening the government’s effort in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, with the directions of General Shavendra Silva, the Head of National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Army, another vaccination drive was commenced under the close supervision of Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (West), administering the first dose of the Synopharm for the youths of 20 to 30 years of age and second dose of the Synopharm for those who are above 60 years. The programme was commenced at the Panagoda Bodhirajaramaya army temple on 06th September 2021.

  • A MOBILE VACCINATION PROGRAMME TO SPEED UP ENOCULATION

    As another step in curbing rapid spread of the COVID- 19 pandemic, Security Force (West) launched a mobile vaccination programme far with the Army’s mobile vaccination fleet that prioritizes the vaccination of the elderly, sick , handicapped and feeble sections in the society, on the direction of the Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva and under the supervision of the Commander Security Force (West) Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa on 22nd August 2021.

  • WEST TROOPS BEEF UP SECURITY FOR QUARANTINE CURFEW

    As a quick respond to the island wide quarantine curfew that came into effect from 20 August until 30 August 2021, upon the directions promulgated by the Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva, the Commander Security Force (West) Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu has already taken all feasible steps to strengthen the government’s effort in order to curb the further transmission of the epidemic within the SF (West) AOR.
