WEST TROOPS BEEF UP SECURITY FOR QUARANTINE CURFEW

As a quick respond to the island wide quarantine curfew that came into effect from 20 August until 30 August 2021, upon the directions promulgated by the Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army General Shavendra Silva, the Commander Security Force (West) Major General D G S Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu has already taken all feasible steps to strengthen the government’s effort in order to curb the further transmission of the epidemic within the SF (West) AOR.

Accordingly, west troops are manning roadblocks, conducting patrols, peace time military operations deploying Quick Reaction Teams (QRT) in and around the Security Force (West) AOR to strictly impose the quarantine curfew. Subsequently, all the troops under command to the Security Force (West) have contributed their commitment and dedication together with SL Navy, SL Air Force and the Police to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.
