1 Sri Lanka National Guard troops of the 14 Division under the Security Force (West) in Wariyapola area had to stack sand bags around Anumethiyagama Tank bund in Hendiyapola today (27) in order to seal a leakage in the tank band. A total of 15 Army personnel attended to the emergency and prevented the piercing of the tank further.

16 Gajaba Regiment (GR) Troops of 14 Division under Security Forces (West) deployed in Mahawewa area assisted transporting civilians from Mahawewa Junction to Thaniwella Devalaya, Madampe which have been completely covered with flood water.

8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops of the 14 Division under Security Forces (West) on being informed by civilians and local authorities of a heavy flood water blockade in the ‘Irriya Ela’ at Wattala rushed to the location and cleared it within a couple of hours before water levels spill and cause havoc in the Wattala township on 26 May.
