Troops of 12 Field Engineers under 61 Infantry Division offered their assistance to Ittapana District hospital, Pibura hospital, Baduraliya hospital and Weththewa hospital in Kalutara District for the management of skeletal health services after sections of the minor staff went on strike on trade union issues on Monday (19) July 2021.
On the direction of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) with the supervision of the Commander SF - West Major General DGS Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division , Commander 612 Infantry Brigade and Commanding Officer 12 Field Engineers promptly activated to cover the duties of hospital minor staff in those hospitals.
