  • WEST TROOPS ASSIST IN LAUNCHING A 'SHRAMADANA' CAMPAIGN AT HIYARE MAHA VIDYALAYA

    A group of Army personnel belonging to 14 (V) Battalion Gemunu Watch of 613 Infantry Brigade of 61 Infantry Division, under the Security Forces (West) assisted in conducting a ‘Shramadana’ campaign by providing manpower in order to clean the surrounding of G/ Hiyare Maha Vidyalaya in Galle District on 16 February 2022.

  • WEST TROOPS CONTRIBUTE TO ANOTHER BLOOD DONATION PROJECT

    Since the amount of blood required for the hospitals in the 613 Infantry Brigade area is insufficient, a contingent of Army personnel belongs 3 (v) Battalion Gamunu Watch under the 613 Infantry Brigade of Security Forces (West) have donated their blood at the Regional Blood Centre, Kamburugamuwa on 15 February 2023.

    With the continuous sponsorship rendered by Thalagala Sri Siddhartha Foundation (Sri Lanka) and the Tan Ngak Buay & Kee Meng Lang Foundation Limited (Singapore), the distribution of dry ration packs to 1500 low-income families in Ratnapura district is carried out by the 8 Battalion Gemunu Watch of 611 Infantry Brigade under 61 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) during the present day.

    Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP, Commander Security Forces (West), after assuming office as the 14th Colonel of the Regiment of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment made his first official visit to the Mechanized Infantry Brigade, 1st, 2nd, 5th Battalions of Mechanized Infantry Regiment and Mechanized Infantry Training Centre on 08 and 09 February 2023 respectively.

  • ARMY PERSONNEL ASSIST IN CONDUCTING A LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP

    Upon the request made by Siriparakum Dharma Vidyalaya - Gonawala, Major N M G K C Netthikumara and one of the physical training instructors belongs to 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry provided their assistance to conduct a workshop on leadership for the newly appointed school prefects on 12 February 2023 at the school premises.

  • WEST TROOPS HELP CONTROL A FIRE AT KATANA

    Army personnel from the 141 Infantry Brigade, 6 Field Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery and 2 (V) Sri Lanka Army Service Corps immediately came forward to extend their maximum assistance to extinguish a fire that erupted inside the factory of Toyo Cushion Lanka pvt Ltd, situated at Katana, around the morning hours on 12 February 2023.

  • WEST TROOPS SUPPORT FOR DENGUE PREVENTION

    With the intention of speeding up the island-wide National Dengue Prevention Campaign that is being implemented these days, the Army personnel serving under 14 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) have to provided their contribution to another Dengue prevention programme during 6 – 11 February 2023 covering several areas of Attanagalla and Kotikawatta Divisional Secretariats after many cases were reported.

  • WEST TROOPS CONTRIBUTED ANOTHER BEACH-CLEARING PROJECT

    On 8 February 2023, in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of Independence Day, Army personnel from the 3 (v) Battalion Gamunu Watch of the 613 Infantry Brigade of Security Forces (West) assisted in a beach cleaning project between Matara Rest House and the Browns Hill coastal belt area, with the cooperation of the University of Ruhuna, Irrigation Department, Matara District Scout Association, Marine Environment Protection Authority and the Municipal Council of Matara.
