In the present day context large scale of drug trafficking, weapons smuggling and other illegal activities are taking place along the Puttalam coastal belt in the 143 Infantry Brigade area operating under 14 Infantry Division in the Security Forces (West). In order to prevent such activities within the western coastal belt, with the instruction of the Commander Security Forces (West) Major General D G S Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, organized a briefing on ‘Illegal activities which are being occurred in the western coastal belt’ at 143 Infantry Brigade on 22 November 2021.

Soldiers of 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment , together with National Building Research Organization (NBRO) and Disaster Management Centre (DMC) officials on Thursday (11) morning undertook a climbing rope expedition into the Pahala Kadugannawa rock precipice in order to closely inspect geological erosions with incessant rains, down below the mountain after the area was threatened with earth-slips.
