WEST TROOPS CONTINUOUSLY COORDINATE COMMUNITY PROGRAMMES WITHIN THEIR AOR

With the continuous sponsorship rendered by Thalagala Sri Siddhartha Foundation (Sri Lanka) and the Tan Ngak Buay & Kee Meng Lang Foundation Limited (Singapore), the distribution of dry ration packs to 1500 low-income families in Ratnapura district is carried out by the 8 Battalion Gemunu Watch of 611 Infantry Brigade under 61 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) during the present day.

Accordingly, out of 18 divisional secretariats in Rathnapura District, the distribution of dry ration packs has been completed to selected low-income families in 16 divisional secretariats in the last few days.

In line with the same donation programme, 611 Infantry Brigade and 8 Battalion Gemunu Watch coordinated another distribution of providing 120 packs of dry ration packs, each worth around RS 2500.00, among low-income families who are currently residing in Kuruwita Divisional Secretariat in Ratnapura District on 14 February 2023 at the Kuruwita Divisional Secretariat office.

Necessary arrangements and the selection of deserving families for this programme have been well coordinated by Army personnel of 611 Infantry Brigade and 8 Battalion Gemunu Watch in collaboration with respective Divisional Secretariats under the guidance of the Commander, 611 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier W M S N Eragoda RWP RSP USP with the instruction of Commander Security Forces (West) Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP.

Meanwhile, General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division, Major General H M U Herath RWP RSP USP hdmc psc, hoisted the distribution as the chief guest on behalf of the Commander Security Forces (West) and the day’s event was participated by Maha Sangha, Commander 611 Infantry Brigade, Civil Affairs Officer of Security Forces Headquarters (West), Commanding Officer of 8 Battalion Gemunu Watch, Officers, Other Ranks and several government officials.
