The General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne has given away a dry ration pack and a gift each to 17 civilian staff in the division on 08th April 2023.
The General Officer Commanding thanked all civilian staff, whom have been working happily at the division and conveyed the New Year greetings to them and their family members. Mr Thilakarathna a civilian staff has commended the generosity of GOC.

With the objective of enhancing the mutual understanding, values, attitudes and inter-relationship in a multi-cultural, religious and a multi-ethnic society a Sinhala and Tamil New Year festival was conducted by the troops of Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna).
With a view to improving information technology skills of Army Personnel serving in Jaffna peninsula, Ranaviru Information Technology Training Institute Jaffna (RITTI- Jaffna) conducted a one-month computer course as the first phase. The training institute located near Thissa Temple, Kankasanthurai was established under direct supervision of Office of Chief Signal Officer under conceptual guidance of Commander Security Forces – Jaffna. The instructional and technical guidance were offered by 6th Regiment Sri Lanka Signal Corps for the training of course attendees.
55 Infantry Division had refurbished 42 x bicycles as the first phase of restoring bicycles which had been kept unattended for extended of time period. On behalf of General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division, Colonel Admin and Quartering had distributed those restored bicycles and head gears among battalions on 30 March 2023.

An educational lecture to enlighten Army personnel on “Drug Addiction and Prevention from such Habitual Acts” was conducted at Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) on 19th March 2023. This awareness programme was launched on the instructions of Major General Swarna Bothota, the Commander of Security Forces (Jaffna).
As per the conceptual guidance of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Swarna Bothota, a volleyball tournament was organizedfor the purpose of hearteningteam-building, personal connection and increase the overall performance among troops. The final tussle was held on 20th March 2023 at the Gymnasium, Security Forces Headquarters(Jaffna).
Lieutenant Colonel DGJBP Dembatagahawatta USP psc assumed duties as the 9th Commanding Officer of 1 Mechanized Infantry Regiment (1 MIR) on 07th March 2023 with formal military ceremonies.
A series of educational programme under the theme of “Sithuvili Sara Sarthaka Jeewithayak - a thoughtful and a successful life” was conducted from 04th - 06th March 2023 at Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna), 51, 52 and 55 Infantry Divisions as per the conceptual guidance of the Commander Security Forces ( Jaffna), Major General Swarna Bothota.
