55 Infantry Division had refurbished 42 x bicycles as the first phase of restoring bicycles which had been kept unattended for extended of time period. On behalf of General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division, Colonel Admin and Quartering had distributed those restored bicycles and head gears among battalions on 30 March 2023.
General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division, Major General Prasanna Gunarathne had initiated the project as per the conceptual guidance of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Swarna Bothota and, Colonel (AQ) 55 Infantry Division, Colonel Randi Jayasinghe had supervised the project.
As a result, troops were able to minimize and regulate fuel usage across various facets of operational and administrative aspects. On the other hand, innovative thoughts and activities are a positive contribution to the Army as the country is in the depths of a recession.
