An indispensable section of the frontline workers of the COVID 19 pandemic; Public Health Inspectors (PHI) and Midwives who have faced unprecedented workload in overstretched health facilities and working in a stressful and frightening work environment, under-protected, overworked and vulnerable to infection came into appreciation for their untiring service in Jaffna today.

Troops of the Security Forces Jaffna once again extended their technical, engineering and manpower support to build two new houses to underprivileged families in Kollankaladdi and Uduvil South Jaffna after their plights were brought to the notice of Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces Jaffna.

Pre cooked lunch packets and gift packs for twenty four girls and sixteen administrative staff including teachers in Kanam Children’s Home in Kopay were handed out by the troops of 513 Infantry Brigade to mark its 26th Anniversary on 26 August 2021.

Founder and Chairman of Thiyahie Charitable Trust and a philanthropist donor, Mr Vamadeva Thiagendran who resides in Jaffna donated 10 million rupees to the “Itukama COVID – 19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund” that has been established by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to strengthen the mitigation activities aimed at controlling the spread of COVID-19 virus in the country and related social welfare programmes.

Troops of 4th Battalion Medical Corps in coordination with the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) Jaffna established 9 other static vaccination centers in Chanakanai, Chavakachcheri, Jaffna, Kopay, Maruthankerny, Nallur, Sandilipay, Tellipalai and Uduvil areas to further intensify the ongoing vaccination drive this morning while launching a mobile vaccination programe for elderly people above the age of 60, sick, handicapped and feeble sections in Jaffna peninsula.

Troops of 521 Infantry Brigade conducted a dry ration pack distribution programme among 50 selected underprivileged families residing in Urikkadu area to mark its 26th Anniversary on 20 August 2021.

On the direction of Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) and District Coordinator of COVID-19 Control and Prevention in Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu; troops of 4th battalion Sri Lanka Medical Corps in collaboration with the authorities of Jaffna Teaching Hospital launched a mobile vaccination drive in order to inoculate the elderly population above the age of 60, sick, handicapped and feeble sections in Jaffna peninsula.

Troops of Security Force Headquarters Jaffna once again donated much needed blood to save the people's lives in Jaffna upon the request made by Jaffna Teaching Hospital on 20 August 2021. This blood donation tremendously affected to fulfill the extreme requirement of blood stocks in the Jaffna Teaching Hospital as stocks were fast on the decrease, due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Giving a boost to the COVID - 19 vaccination drive in Jaffna, a mobile vaccination drive was launched for elderly people above the age of 60, sick, handicapped and feeble sections in Jaffna peninsula by the troops of 4th battalion Sri Lanka Medical Corps on 19 August 2021.
