Army Donates an Oxygen Concentrator for Covid Care Facility at Tellipalai Base Hospital

The Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna donated an Oxygen Concentrator to the Tellippalai Base Hospital for the use of COVID-19 Patients in an emergency. The Commanding Officer of 4th Battalion Medical Corps, Major Chinthana Kumara officially handed over the Oxygen Concentrator to Dr. P Thileepan, Medial Superintendent of Tellippalai Base Hospital, on 5th October 2021.

Blood Donation Campaign Conducted by Jaffna Troops to Coincide with the 72nd Anniversary of the Army

In line with the 72nd anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, troops 552 Infantry Brigade of 55 Infantry Division conducted a blood donation programme under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces Jaffna Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu and close supervision of General Officer Commanding 55 Division, Major General MK Jayawadena RSP USP ndu at the Headquarters premises of 552 Brigade, Iyakachchi on Monday 04 October 2021.

Troops Sterilise Public Places in Nelliady and Point Pedro

As a measure to prevent the spread of new coronavirus in Point Pedro and Nelliady town, a sterilization programme was conducted by the troops of 551 Infantry Brigade, on the instruction of Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) and close supervision of Major General MK Jayawardena RSP USP ndu, General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division on Friday 01 October 2021. In line with this sterilization programme, general public of the area were educated on the importance of adhering to health guidelines before general public start crowding into cities after lifting of the long quarantine curfew.

Army Lends its Helping Hand to Cremate Covid 19 Infected Corpses in Jaffna

Acting on a request made by the Provincial Director Health Services (PDHS) the Jaffna, the Army took an urgent step to support the cremation of Covid 19 infected dead bodies piling up in hospitals in the peninsula.

This bold step was taken under the direct involvement of Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) and District Coordinator of COVID-19 Control and Prevention in Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu.

Laying of Foundation Stone for a New House and Distribution of Dry Ration Packs

Implementing the concept of extending community assistance to needy families, on instructions of Major General Jagath Kodituwakku RWP RSP ndu Commander Security Force - Jaffna, the foundation stone was laid by Commander 551 Infantry Brigade for the construction of a new house for the family of Mrs. Selvasannadi Darshani of Imayanan, Nelliadi on 11 September 2021, adhering to all Covid-19 prevention protocols.

Religious Activities in Jaffna to Invoke Blessing on The Nation

Religious activities were conducted at the Kailasanadar Vadiwambihei Shivam Kovil in Nallur and Sri Naga Viharaya in Jaffna to invoke blessing on the nation and eradication of Covid 19 pandemic on 09 September 2021.

This meritorious deed was organized by the Staff of Security Forces Jaffna under the guidance of Commander Security Forces Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodituwakku RWP RSP ndu on a direction received by the Head, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc.

Jaffna Troops Conduct General Public Awareness Programme on Covid – 19 and Benefits of Vaccination

General public awareness programme on COVID -19 pandemic situation in Jaffna peninsula, prevention and precautionary measures of COVID -19 and benefits of inoculating vaccines was conducted by the troops of 51 division on 05 and 06 September 2021. Further, under this programme, people who live in Koopay, Kankasanthurei, Jaffna, Keeramalei were made aware of the importance of preventing covid -19, following the health guidelines including proper wearing of face masks, maintaining of social distance to control the spread of the new delta variant.

Donate Medical Devices to Jaffna Teaching Hospital

A stock of medical equipment and other accessories for the use of COVID-19 victims and other patients have been granted to the Sri Lanka Army by the American Sri Lanka Foundation. 05 Oxygen Concentrator of 10 Leter, 40 Rebreather Adult Concentration Oxygen Mask, 10 Filter +1 Tube and 05 Pulse Ox meters were received by the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna and they were officially donated to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital on 6th September 2021.

Troops Take Dry Ration Packs to Doorsteps in Jaffna

Following a generous sponsorship provided by the Chairman of the ‘Thyahie Charitable Trust’ and philanthropist Mr V Thyagendran, troops of 51, 52 and 55 Divisions under the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna coordinated and distributed 1000 dry ration packs among needy families in Kopay, Vartavilan, Araly, Meenachi, Karainagar, Thelippalei, Palely, Illakkadu, Urikkadu, Vidaththapalai, Kodikamam, Kovilakkanady, Allarai , Ellankulum, Katkovalam and Maradanderni area on Saturday (04) under the guidance of Commander Security Forces Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodituwakku RWP RSP ndu.
