With the prevailing adverse weather condition and the heavy rain continued for days, many areas in Jaffna Peninsula have been inundated due to inland flooding causing large number of people to abandon their property.
During this disastrous situation, troops of 51, 52 and 55 Infantry Divisions have been extending their assistance by evacuating affected people to safer locations, clearing waterways to enable the uninterrupted flow of flooding water, road clearing and traffic handling. In addition troops have provided cooked meals, drinking water and other essentials for affected people while ensuring their safety and security.
On direction of Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku, the Commander Security Forces Jaffna, all divisions, Brigades and Battalions are ready to mobilize their troops and machinery to extend prompt assistance to support the affected people and to mitigate the prevailing adverse condition in coordination with the respective government authorities in Jaffna Peninsula.
