The traditional Katina Pooja in the historic Tissa Raja Maha Vihara in Kankesanthurai, was held by a series of religious observances under the patronage of the Chief incumbent of the temple. The climax of the whole religious festival took place on Saturday 13 November 2021 with the participation of Maha Sangha in the presence of Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu, the Commander Security Forces-Jaffna and military personnel.
Religious event was organized by troops of 5th Battalion, Sri Lanka Army Service Corps under the guidance of Major General Wanditha Mahinkanda, the Commander Forward Maintenance Area (North).
The religious programme was concluded with alms-giving and offering of 'Atapirikara' to Bhikkus and Katinanisansa sermon by the chief incumbent of the Amarapura Sri Kalyanawansha Maha Nikaye Anushasaka Ven. Ambalangoda NIndane Wajiraghana Thero.
