A delegation of 20 military officers and 14 spouses of India’s National Defence College (NDC) headed by Major General Hari B Pillai, Chief of the Directing Staff arrived in Sri Lanka on Sunday (17) evening and visited Jaffna on 20 October 2021.

This tour is a part of their familiarization tour in the curriculum and the delegation comprised of senior officers from India, United States of America, Japan, Iran, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Malaysia. They were received at the Palaly International Airport Jaffna by the Brigadier General Staff and the Brigadier Admin and Quartering of the Security Forces Jaffna on arrival.

Accordingly, visiting delegation was accompanied to the Indian Peace Keeping Monument Palaly while head of the delegation, Major General Hari B Pillai proceeded to the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna. At headquarters premises, Major General Hari Pillai was warmly welcomed by Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu and together they visited the IPKF Monument. Then, the delegation paid tribute to the memory of fallen IPKF War Heroes, placing floral wreaths at the IPKF Monument during the brief and solemn ceremony.

The foundation stone-laying for construction of another new house for Mrs. S.Madirupan, a low income family living in Maruthankerny, Jaffna was held on 18 October 2021. The General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division Major General MK Jayawardane RWP USP ndu graced the occasion as the Chief Guest during a simple ceremony, adhering to health formalities.

A philanthropist and a well-known donor from South, Mr. Kumara Weerasooriya grants the financial contribution for purchasing of raw materials for the construction of this new house while the troops of 10th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment provides much needed manpower and technical expertise for the construction work under the supervision of the Commander 553 Infantry Brigade.

Troops of 52 Infantry Division on directions of Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding 52 division conducted a dry ration packs distribution programme among 50 selected underprivileged families residing in Mirusuvil ,Vidaththapalei , Kodikamam and Vallei areas to mark the Army day on 17 October 2021.

Troops of the Security Forces Jaffna once again extended their technical, engineering and manpower support to build a new house to another underprivileged family in Imayanan, Udupiddy after their plight was brought to the notice of Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces Jaffna.

Troops of the 52 Division in Mirisuvil felicitated the newly-promoted General Officer Commanding Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc when he arrived at the HQ on Wednesday (13) after receipt of his promotion rank.

During a tour to the peninsula, HE David Mckinnon, High Commissioner of Canada in Sri Lanka together with Mr. Daniel Bood, Political and Economic Counsellor of the Canadian High Commission in Colombo and Mr. P Goobinath, the political officer visited to the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) and met Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu on Wednesday, 13 October 2021.

Troops 522 Infantry Brigade of the 52 Division of the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) in line with the 72nd anniversary of Army launched community welfare services at Mirusuvil and Kethpali on the instructions of the General Officer Commanding, 52 Division, Major General MGWWWMCB Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc on 10 and 11 October 2021.

The troops of 51, 52 and 55 Infantry Divisions of the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna carried out a series of Civil Military Cooperation Programmes in connection with the 72nd anniversary of the Army on 9th and 10th October 2021.

In line with the 72nd Anniversary of Army, troops of 11th Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and 521 Brigade of 52 Infantry Division serving under the Security Forces Headquarters – Jaffna cleaned up the St. Lucas Elders Home premises and presented lunch for inmates of Elderly Home in Puttur on 08th October 2021 as anther community project.

The 72th Army Day Celebrations at Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna was held on 10th October 2021 with the participation of Brigadier Admin and Quartering, Security Forces Jaffna, Brigadier D M A Bandara and Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks serving at the Headquarters premises.
