The 72th Army Day Celebrations at Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna was held on 10th October 2021 with the participation of Brigadier Admin and Quartering, Security Forces Jaffna, Brigadier D M A Bandara and Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks serving at the Headquarters premises.
The ceremony began with the hoisting of the Army Flag then the singing of the Army Anthem took place followed by a two-minute silence observed in honour of all Fallen War Heroes who made the supreme sacrifice with their lives on behalf of the motherland. Thereafter, the reading of Army Commander's Message to mark 72 years of success in protecting the territorial integrity and securing of sovereignty of the country, took place amidst the troops.
Subsequently, Kumbuk Saplings (Terminalia Arjuna) were planted at the Headquarters premises by the Brigadier Admin and Quartering of Security Forces Jaffna and Senior Officers which marked the end of the day's programme.
