New Ration Stores Complex for 5 SLSC

The newly constructed Ration Stores Complex at the 5th Battalion Sri Lanka Army Service Corps was declared open by the Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu, the Commander Security Forces-Jaffna together with Major Madusanka Jayasinha Lsc, Commanding Officer 5th Battalion Sri Lanka Army Service Corps on 05th December 2021.

Frontliners in Controlling and Prevention of Covid-19 Pandemic Felicitated by Jaffna Commander

In appreciation and recognition of the great humanitarian assistance of frontliners during the COVID-19 pandemic in Jaffna peninsula, a felicitation ceremony was organized at Army Holiday Resort, Kankasanthurei under the guidance of Commander Security Forces Jaffna and District Coordinator of COVID-19 Control and Prevention in Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu who graced the ceremony as the chief guest on 04 December 2021.

During the ceremony, 29 Medical Officers, 86 Public Health Inspectors and 210 midwives were awarded service appreciation certificates as they rendered their humanitarian assistance to save lives of Jaffna populace, beyond capacity despite all challenges towards their lives during the COVID - 19 pandemic.

Australian High Commissioner Meets Jaffna Commander

H.E. Mr. David Holly, the Australian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka together with Captain Ian Cain, the Defence adviser of Australian High Commission in Sri Lanka, Mr. Brett Zehnder, the Counsellor Custom and Border Protection, Ms. Lara Sveinsson, third Secretary (Political) and Research and Information Officer and Mr. Trivan Annakkarage, research and Information officer paid a visit to Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) on 02nd December 2021 and was warmly welcomed by the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu.

Workshop on Military in Internal Security Operations

A two - day workshop on Human Rights (HR) and International Humanitarian Law (IHL) was conducted at the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna by International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on the instructions given by the Directorate of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law on 23 and 24 November 2021. The Brigadier (Retd) Jacques Lemay, the Regional Armed and Security Forces Delegate of ICRC in Colombo, Mr. Claudia and Mr Channa Jayawardena conducted the two-day workshop which widened and bridged the knowledge gap on HR and IHL of Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and Staff Officers serving in Jaffna peninsula.

Troops of 51 Division Engage in Shramadana Campaigns

Troops of 51 Division launched a “Shramadana Campaigns” to clear the surroundings of the Headquarters, 51 Division premises with the collaboration of Selvapuram and Kopai villages on 23 November 2021 as one more community project. The aim of holding this shramadana was to ensure that this area in free of mosquito breeding places in order to stop the spreading of dengue.

The Shramadana campaign got underway in response to a request by the surrounding villagers and approximately 30 Army personnel and 20 villagers were participated.

Medical Clinic Organized by the 51 Infantry Division

In line with monthly CIMIC calendar, 51 Division organized a medical clinic at Headquarters, 51 Infantry Division on 21 November 2021 as one more community project. This medical clinic was organized responding to the request made by villagers who live in surrounding areas since they were confined to their houses nearly two years due to the COVID -19 pandemic.

The directions and guidance given by Commander of the Army, during his recent visit to Jaffna and with the blessings of Major General Jagath Kodituwakku, Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna) the programme was organised by staff of 51 Division, under the guidance of Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe, the General Officer Commanding.

A team of 03 Doctors and 12 Nursing Staff of Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps headed by Major Chinthana Kumara, Commanding Officer of 4 Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps and 04 Doctors and 15 Nursing Staff of Teaching Hospital, Jaffna headed by Dr. Rangan Madan, treated more than 200 civilians of Selvapuram, Yogapuram and Kopay villages for various ailments during the clinic. At the end all civilians paid their gratitude to Sri Lanka Army since getting medication within the village area itself was a achievement of them.
