Distribution of Shoes Among School Children

In line with monthly CIMIC calendar, 51 Infantry Division distributed 150 pairs of shoes among students in 51 Infantry Division area Jaffna. This was held with the participation of 50 students at Headquarters, 51 Infantry Division on 25 December 2021 and simultaneously 512 Brigade, 513 Brigade and 515 Brigade distributed rest of the shoes for students in their respective areas.

New Security Forces Commander Visits 51 and 52 Infantry Divisions

Major General Sujeewa Senarathyapa RWP RSP ndu who assumed duties as the 27th Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna made his formal field visits to 51 and 52 Infantry Divisions Headquarters during 21-22 December 2021.

Upon his arrival at the 51 Infantry Division HQ, the new Commander, Security Forces Jaffna was welcomed by the General Officer Commanding, 51 Division, Major General Chandana Wickramasighe RWP RSP ndu psc, greeted with drive pass. Afterwards, he addressed Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and troops under the 51 Division. Then, a comprehensive briefing on role and tasks in their area of responsibility was delivered by the General Officer Commanding and his staff officers.

On Wednesday (22), he paid his first visit to the 52 Infantry Division HQ in Mirisuvil to be received by Samantha Wickramasena RWP RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division on arrival at the Division HQ. Commander was welcomed and greeted through drive pass at the entrance in keeping with military traditions before he was ushered in. A subsequent comprehensive briefing on their role and task and responsibilities was presented by the General Officer Commanding.

New Brigadier General Staff SFHQ - Jaffna Assumed Duties

Brigadier Shashika Perera of Sri Lanka Light Infantry assumed office as new Brigadier General Staff of Security Forces - Jaffna on Monday 20 December 2021 amidst a simple ceremony.

After religious observances, Brigadier Shashika Perera signed an official document and signified the acceptance of the new office. Before this new appointment, he had been serving as the Commander 533 Infantry Brigade of the 53 Division.

Staff Officers of the Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna were also there to greet him on the inauguration of his office.

New Jaffna Commander Assumes Duties

Major General DGS Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu assumed duties as the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna on Friday, 17 December 2021. A Guard of Honour was extended to the incoming Commander by the troops of the 11th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry at the Security Force Headquarters Jaffna. He placed his signature in the first official document to mark assuming duties, amidst chanting of Seth Pirith in the presence of General Officers Commanding 51, 52 and 55 Infantry Divisions, Commander Forward Maintain Area (North) and Senior Staff Officers of Security Force Headquarters Jaffna.

Religious dignitaries of Hindu, Catholic and Islam were also present during the taking over formalities and blessed him for his new appointment. He planted a mango sapling (Magnifera Indica) marking his appointment as the Commander Security Forces Jaffna.This was followed a group photograph.

Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku Completes His Tenure as Commander Security Forces – Jaffna

Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku held the office of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) on 19 July 2021 and relinquished the appointment on 17 December 2021 to assume duties as Deputy Chief of Defence Staff. Prior to leaving of outgoing Commander, the series of military formalities were held at Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna on 15th and 16th December in line with the relinquishment of the appointment commenced with reviewing of the Guard Turnout, accorded to the outgoing Commander. The Commander, Security Force (Jaffna) reviewed the Guard of Honour accorded by the troops of Sri Lanka Army Light Infantry. A few minutes later outgoing Commander placed his signature on the Visitors’ Book leaving an inspiring and indelible chapter as the Commander Security Force Jaffna.

Jaffna Commander Bids Salute to Jaffna Troops

The Commander Security Forces Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu bid salutes to the troops of 51, 52 and 55 Infantry Divisions before coming to an end the tenure as the Commander Security Forces Jaffna. The visiting outgoing commander was warmly and hunourly welcome by the respective division’s commanders in their respective headquarters following the military traditions and the custom on 13 December 2021.

Jaffna Commander Donates Computers to Former LTTE Combatant

During a brief ceremony organized at the Natural Park Holiday Resort on 13 December 2021, five desktop computers, computer tables and chairs were donated to the Institute of Computer World Visit Education in Veththalakeni. This education institute is being conducted by a former LTTE combatant, Mrs. Sebasthiyan Pulle Selvakayagee who has been disabled by war. She helps students in the Veththanlakeni area by providing the computer knowledge free of charge.

The Commander Security Forces Jaffna, Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu graced ceremony as the chief guest together with Major General Mahinda Jayawardena RSP USP ndu and handed over the computers and other equipments worth of Rs.600000.00. to expand the charity service of Mrs. Sebasthiyan Pulle Selvakayagee.

Dry Ration Packs for Needy Families and Stationeries for Pre Schoolings in Navatkuli

Troops of 52 Infantry Division on directions of Brigadier GGAS Wickramasena RWP RSP USP psc, General Officer Commanding of 52 Infantry division donated dry ration packs ,each worth about Rs 3500/= for 25 underprivileged families residing in Navatkuli area and stationery items for 16 children of ‘‘Lakdaru’’pre school in Navatkuli on 11 December 2021.
