Recruit Training Comprising of Tamil, Muslim and Sinhala Youths Begins in Jaffna

The 1st Recruit Training Course at Battalion Training School Vasavilan of 51 Infantry Division under Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna commenced during a simple ceremony on 13 December 2021.

This recruit training conducted under the guidance of Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku RWP RSP ndu in line with the 'Army Way Forward Strategy 2020 - 2025’.

General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division, Major General Chandana Wickramasighe RWP RSP ndu psc, graced the event as the Chief Guest at the Inaugural Ceremony and delivered opening remarks and emphasized the salient aspects of basic military training such as the transformation process from civil life to military life, responsibilities of trainees during their training period and importance of maintaining discipline, behaviour, commitment and dedication to follow military training.

This batch comprising of 360 youths from Sinhala, Muslim and Tamil communities have been recruited from all part of the country. The course would continue till 13 April 2022 under the close supervision of General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division.

The Brigade Commanders of 511, 513 and 515 Infantry Brigades, Staff Officers of Security Forces (Jaffna) and 51 Infantry Division, Chief Instructor of Battalion Training School, Commanding Officers of under command battalions and Instructors of Battalion Training School were also present.
