SHRAMADHANA Sri Lanka Army, Task Force 3 located in Akkareipaththu under Security Forces (East) conducted a shramadhana campaign in Arugambay beach on 15 Feb 2013 with the participation of the officers of Pothuvil Police station and Pothuvil DS Office and the civilians of the sinhaulla GS Division. IN ARUGAMBAY BEACH

Sri Lanka Army, Task Force 3 located in Akkareipaththu under Security Forces (East) conducted a shramadhana campaign at Panama Hospital which is facilitated by over 3800 people in the area on 15 Feb 2013.

Sri Lanka Army, Task Force 3 located in Akkareipaththu under Security Forces (East) conducted an entertainment programme for the students of Kalmunai Sinhala maha vidyalaya on 16th February 2013 and at the end of the programme distributes lunch packets for the students.

Sri Lanka Army, 22 Division located in Trincomalee under Security Forces (East) facilitiate to conduct the annual DURUTHU MAHA PERAHERA of GAL POKUNA RAJA MAHA VIHARAYA on 16th Feburuary 2013 with the participation of the all religious leaders in the area

The dominating peak in the area is called Thoppigala (British called it Baron$s cap, tamils called it Kudumbimalai).It is situated near the Batticaloa - Polonnaruwa border close to MaduruOya the Sri Lankan military$s largest infantry training base. The area is 800 square kilometers, with Rocky Mountains (Dimbulagala - Lahugala range), dense jungles and also ancient irrigation tanks. The Sri Lankan military launched their military operation to capture the area from LTTE on April 25, 2007.

The Sri Lankan military announced that the capture of Vakarai, a coastal town of eastern Batticaloa District on January 19, 2007. The military has accused the LTTE of using civilians in the Vakarai Hospital as a human shield and also using the hospital premises as an artillery launching pad. The SLA s battle to take Vakarai (Vaakare) lasted nearly three months from October 30, 2006 to January 15, 2007. Vakarai is a coastal city in the Batticaloa District where the LTTE had clamped their civil administration and police for some time.

After MavilAru the Government wanted to take Sampur as the Tiger presence there was a threat to Trincomalee. From the day of taking MarvilAru Security Forces were on a surveillance mission at Sampur and advanced for battle on August 27, 2006.The Sri Lankan military gained control of the Sampur town of eastern Trincomalee District on September 4, 2006, where the area used by the LTTE as an artillery launching pad to attack Trincomalee Port. The SLA military offensive began in August 2006 and the area was under the LTTE control for years.
