The LTTE close sluice gates at Mavil Aru to provoke the government, an act which could develop into a full-scale war. Their ulterior motive was to send across a message to the international community that the government had breached the Ceasefire Agreement. The closure of the sluice gates at Mavil Aru on July 20, 2006 immediately resulted in about 30,000 people being deprived of their main source of drinking water. The continued closure later affected vast paddy tracts dependent on Mavil Aru waters.

Sri Lanka Army, 24th Sri Lanka National Guard located in Sinhapura under 233 Bde of 23 Division in Security Forces (East) distributed school items and a computer Sinhapura School school on 13 March 2013. The Staff of the Lake house also associated with the event.

Sri Lanka Army, 22 Division located in Trincomalee in Security Forces (East), conducted a meeting with the Islam religious leaders in the area to discuss about the burning problems among them and between others on 08 March 2013. All religious leaders were participated in the area.

Sri Lanka Army, 223 Brigade located in Hinguraggoda of 22 Division in Security Forces (East) Arranged subsidies for a poor family by finance and dry rations in Jayanthipura area on 11 March 2013. Sampath bank – Hinguraggoda Branch also cooperated for the hospitality.

Sri Lanka Army, 5th Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery located in Pahala Thopoor under 224 Bde of 22 Division in Security Forces (East) organized a tree planting programm at “Annahar Ladies College’’ on 08 March 2013.
