Colonel GTS Silva USP QLCO Lsc ato assumed duties as the Colonel Admin & Quartering of Security Force Headquarters (East) at auspicious time after observing religious rituals on 19 Dec 2023.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 22 Infantry Division, Major General P A M Peiris RSP USP psc made his first official visits to 221 Infantry Brigade, 222 Infantry Brigade, 223 Infantry Brigade and under command battalions on 07, 09 and 13 December 2023 after assuming duties as The GOC of 22 Infantry Division.

Under the vision and guidance of General Officer Commanding, 24 Infantry Division, Major General W Chandrasiri RSP USP psc, giving a further boost to education in Ampara district, 24 Infantry Division enthusiastically coordinated and contribute a donation of school accessories worth of Rs. 10,000 to 63 students with economic difficulties in grades 1 to 5, learning at Ekgal Oya Primary School Ampara with the sponsorship provided by Mr. A. Sunil, Chairman and managing director of SN Micro Credit (Pvt) Ltd., spouse of his, Mrs. Chandani Shreenikethi, and his staff on 13 December 2023.

Troops of 23 Infantry Division under the Eastern Headquarters conducted a mega-scale community project to distribute school accessories among 323 school students of Sinhapura Kanishta Vidyalaya and Susirigama Primary School on Tuesday (12 Dec) at the Sinhapura Kanishta Vidyalaya and Susirigama Primary School premises.

With the concept of General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division, Major General PAM Peiris RSP USP psc, basic outboard motor boat (OBM) training course No 2 was conducted for 00 x 34 other rankers of under command battalion’s Search & Rescue operation teams from 27 November 2023 to 09 December 2023 with the support of 7 field Engineer Regiment.

With the assistance of Assit Resettlement and Renaissance organization, troops of the 20th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment under the 221 Infantry Brigade of 22 Infantry Division of the Security Force Headquarters - East has conducted an Eye Clinic and Cataract screening programme on 09 December 2023 at Pulmoddai Muslim Central College.

On the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces - East, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, direction of the General Officer Commanding, 23 Infantry Division, Major General KVNP Premaratne RSP USP psc and close supervision of the Commander, 232 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier KA Pushpakumara RWP RSP USP psc, Commanding Officer, Major SPIH Senanayake psc lsc and all rank of 4th Battalion the Gemunu Watch organized a series of seminar for 91 students under the Batticaloa zonal educational office who are going to be appeared for the GCE A/L examination year 2023.

241 Infantry Brigade located in the Akkarapattu area of Ampara District celebrated its 10th anniversary last November 29th with a simple and proud ceremony as per Army traditions and customs. Brigadier LSDN Pathirathne RSP USP, the Commander, 241 Infantry Brigade, was accorded a guard turnout and parade, which was conducted by the troops of the 241 Infantry Brigade.

The 24 Infantry Division proudly celebrated its 10th Anniversary on 27 November 2023, marking yet another milestone in its eventful history.
