Association with the Mobile Medical and Eye Care Unit of Help Age Sri Lanka, a medical clinic and eye clinic were held on 10 June 2023 at Gemunu Maha Viharaya, Sinhapura by the supervision of the Commanding Officer, and troops of 9 Field Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery. About 250 patients attended the eye clinics and the Help Age Sri Lanka gave word, those eligible to receive spectacles will facilitate within one month.

The Nelugala historical place, located in the south of Koralepattu in the Batticaloa district of the Eastern Province which is spread over an area, has about 16 ruins statues remaining now in the area. To preserve the ancient Sri Lankan culture, the restoration project of the Nelugala historic place was initiated by the Rev. Katakumbure Dhammarama Thero with the Archaeological Department. In order to initiate the first stage of the project the Eastern Commander, Major General Darshana Wijesekera laid the foundation stone for constructing the new road to Nelugala Statues, on Wednesday (12 July) at auspicious time in the middle of "Pirith" chanting.

In order to start the second stage of the restoration project of the ‘Deegawapiya’ Dagaba in Ampara, held a Pirith chanting programme on Sunday (09 July) evening at the Deegawapiya temple premises. The Eastern Commander, Major General Darshana Wijesekera participated in the occasion as the chief guest of this liturgy programme held the ancient sacred ground.

The 9 Field Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery troops under the supervision of the 233 Infantry Brigade erected a "Sangawasa" for Sri Gamunu Viharaya at Sinhapura and handed over it to the Dikelle Ghanapradeepalankara, Nayaka Thero of the temple. During a simple ceremony the newly constructed "Sangawasa" was handed over in the hands of Major General Darshana Wijesekera, the Eastern Commander on Sunday (02 July).

The Eastern Commander, Major General Darshana Wijesekera exposed the "Kotha" of the Keviliyamaduwa Pansalgala Abhinawarama temple stupa of Batticaloa district during the middle of the religious rituals of "Maha Sangha" on Sunday (02 July). At the invite of Ampara and Batticaloa districts Sanghanayake, Ampitiye Sumanarathana Thero, and subsidiary council members, the Eastern Commander participated in the liturgy of exposing the "Koth Wahanse".
