A book pack distribution program was held at the Kerninagar Abu Restaurant & Banquet Hall on Friday (19 July 2024) with the contribution of the troops of the 7th Battalion The Gemunu Watch under 233 Infantry Brigade, 23 Infantry Division to help those who are studying in the face of economic difficulties. In this program, 94 students in Mallath College Kerninagar & 35 students in Punani Government Tamil Mix School (GTMS) were benefited with a worthy book packs.
Major General SA Kulatunga RWP RSP VSV USP psc, the Commander, Security Forces - East figured out the basic needs and launched this program with his conceptual guidance. The event was organized under the supervision of Major General WP Kariawasam - General Officer Commanding 23 Infantry Division and Colonel SN Wijesinghe USP IG - Commander of 233 Infantry Brigade. The event was successfully conducted with the support and close supervision of Maj ACW Gunasekara RSP, The Commanding Officer – 7th Battalion the Gemunu Watch.
Dancing items performed by students of the Mallath College Kerninagar and Punani GTMS enhance the glamour of the event. At the end of the program, the students and their parents were treated to tea and lunch.
