On the request made by the authorities of Marine environment protection authority, (MEPA) from Major General SB Amunugama RWP RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding of the 22 Infantry Division, 221 Infantry Brigade launched a beach Cleaning program at the coastal belt of general area Nilaweli in Trincomalee district. 2 X 50 17 SLNG troops along with Sri Lanka Navy, Sri Lanka Police, Civil Defence Department, and other government authorities took part in this whole day program on 04.05.2023. Nilaweli Beach is famous for its scenic beauty which attracts lots of tourists. Hence the residents of the area and the personnel involved in tourism praised this prompt event.
