THE GEMUNU WATCH SEVA VANITHA BRANCH HONOURS THE PARENTS, WIVES AND CHILDREN OF THE FALLEN WAR HEROES

The Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch and The Regimental Centre organized a commemoration ceremony for the fallen war heroes and a paying of tribute to their parents ,wives and children on 09 December 2023 at the Matara War Heroes memorial. Parents , Wives and children of fallen Gemunu Watch War Heroes who lived in and around the Southern province participated to the ceremony. The programme commenced with observing two minutes silence in memory of the fallen War Heroes.

HIGHLANDERS BECAMEAS THE CHAMPIONS OF THE INTER-REGIMENT COMBAT MEET 2023 WITH A NEW RECORD

The inter regiment Combat shooting meet 2023 organized by the Army Small Arms Association (ASAA) together with the Marksmanship and Sniper Training School (MSTS) concluded on November 16 at the Diyathalawa 1000m Firing Range. Acting chief of Staff Maj Gen GRRP Jayawardena RWP RSP ndu was the Chief Guest on the awarding ceremony held at auditorium Sri Lanka Military Academy Diyatalawa on 22 November 2023. More than 300 competitors were attended under openand novices categories, representing all regiments of the Sri Lanka Army.

CENTRE COMMANDANT OFFICIALLY VISITED REGIMENTAL HEADQUARTER BATTALION

Brigadier HCL Galappathti RSP USP, the Centre Commandant of The Gemunu Watch, visited the Regimental Headquarter Battalion on 20 November 2023, after assuming duties as the commandant of regimental centre the Gemunu Watch. Lt Col ALAN Dhammika RWP RSP, the Commanding Officer of the RHQ battalion, warmly welcomed the commandant and conducteda briefing and discussed the matters which are pertaining to the battalion. Thereafter, the Commandant visited RHQ battalion premises, including the temple, office complex, and living areas of the troops.

BRIGADIER H C L GALAPPATHTI RSP USP ASSUMED THE DUTIES AS THE 22ND CENTRE COMMANDANT OF REGIMENTAL CENTRE THE GEMUNU WATCH

Brigadier HCL Galappathti RSP USP assumed duties as the 22nd Centre Commandant of the Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch amidst military formalities accomplished at the Regimental Headquarters premises, Kuruwita on 01 November 2023.

The day’s proceedings in connection with the assumption of duties as the Centre Commandant began with accepting of the Guard Turnout accorded in his honour. The Senior Officer was warmly received by Col JMDNC Jayamaha the Deputy Centre Commandant of the Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch.

TROOPS BID FAREWELL MILITARY SALUTE TO OUTGOING CENTRE COMMANDANT

The Regiment Centre the Gemunu Watch organized a farewell ceremony for outgoing Centre Commandant Brigadier WBJK Wimalarathna RWP RSP at the Regiment Centre on 30 October 2023.

Deputy Centre Commandant, Col JMDNC Jayamaha received the outgoing Centre Commandant of the Regiment Centre, the Gemunu Watch and invited to review the guard turnout at the entrance and ceremonial commemoration for fallen war heroes at the monument were taken place to make the event more colourful and traditional.

GEMUNU WATCH SEVAVANITHA BRANCH ENCOURAGE CHILDREN TO IMPROVE THEIR EDUCATION

Under the guidance of Mrs. Manori Welagedara, the Honorary Chairperson of the Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch and with the contribution of the members of the Seva Vanitha Branch, scholarships were awarded to the children of officers and other ranks of the Gemunu Watch who passed the Advanced Level examination on 19 October 2023 in order to appreciate their remarkable achievements.

SEVA VANITHA BRANCH ORGANIZED A DONATION CAMPAIGN FOR NEEDY SCHOOL CHILDREN AT NON PERIAL ESTATE COINCIDE WITH THE WORLD CHILDREN’S DAY

The Seva Vanitha Branch of the Gemunu Watch organized a donation campaign for needy school children at Vivegananda School at Nonperial Estate in Balangoda. A library was built at the school and provided necessary books for the school. Few games were organized for the entertainment of the school children. After awarding prizes to the winning students and they were served tea and lunch. Furthermore, Two pair of spectacles worth of Rs 30000.00 were donated for two children.

THE GEMUNU WATCH FOOTBALL TEAM MANAGED TO PROTECT THEIR DIGNITY IN FRONT OF THE STRONGEST CHALLENGERS IN FOOTBALL

The Gemunu Watch football team competed with Northern Provincial football team on 23rd September 2023 and Mailakadu Gnanamurugam Sports Club on 24th September 2023 at Durayappah Stadium, Jaffna. The first match was kik-off with the 0-0 scoring after a very tight fight and Gemunu Watch football team managed to win the second match as 1- 0 scoring.
