THE GEMUNU WATCH SEVA VANITHA BRANCH HONOURS THE FAMILIES OF FALLEN WAR HEROES

The Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch and The Regimental Centre held a remembrance service for fallen war heroes on March 23, 2024, at the Wellawaya War Heroes Memorial. The celebration included a particular respect to their parents, spouses and children. Families of deceased Gemunu Watch War Heroes from Ampara, Monaragala, and Badulla districts attended the occasion. The ceremony began with a moment of silence in honour of the departed warriors.

Military Honours Salute Major General W.H.M. Manatunga (Rtd) During Final Journey

The military funeral of Major General W.H.M. Manatunga (Rtd) of the Gemunu Watch (GW), who had served the country for more than 34 years, took place on 24 March 2024 at Borella general cemetery.

Troops, in accordance with military traditions, received the remains, presenting arms near the entrance to the cemetery before placing the coffin in the gun carriage, draped in the National flag.

NEWLY PROMOTED MAJOR GENERALS WERE HONOURED IN FELICITATION CEREMONY AT THE GEMUNU WATCH REGIMENTAL CENTRE ON 24 FEBRUARY 2024

On February 24, 2024, the Gemunu Watch Regiment honoured the newly promoted Major General ULJS Perera RSP USP psc, Director General 2 in the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, and Major General PKS Nandana RSP USP psc, Director General Training at the Regimental Centre The Gemunu Watch. The Colonel of the Regiment and General Officer Commanding - 51 Infantry Division, as well as other senior officers of the Gemunu Watch, attended the event.

A MEDICAL CLINIC BY THE REGIMENTAL CENTRE THE GEMUNU WATCH

When a military is not fighting a war but rather maintaining peace, healthy personnel among the troops are critical. In light of this, Brigadier Chaminda Galappathti RSP USP organized a Health Clinic for Officers and Other Ranks, which was directed by the Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Wajira Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndc, on February 22, 2024, at the Regimental Headquarters. ANOTHER DONATION PROGRAMME FROM SEVA VANITHA BRANCH THE GEMUNU WATCH

Mrs Manori Welagedara, president of the Seva Vanitha Branch - The Gemunu Watch, and her team donated a large stock of essential school supplies to a selected group of 12 deserving students of carefully chosen soldiers in the Gemunu Watch on February 24, 2024, at the Paradise Auditorium, of the regiment.

The distinguished ladies of the Seva Vanitha Unit had contributed the full pack of books and stationery, which comprised exercise books, pens, pencils, and other items valued at Rs 100,000/-.

The Gemunu Watch Regiment hosted 'Felicitation Ceremony' to newly promoted Major General CA Rajapakse RSP and Major General W B J K Wimalaratne RWP RSP with the directions of The Colonel of the Regiment the Gemunu Watch, Major General SWB Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndc to congratulate in conformity with military traditions.

23 GEMUNU WATCH DISTRIBUTES SCHOOL ACCESSORIES AND COCONUT SAPLING

The distribution of school accessories to school children and coconut saplings to their parents, organized by the 23 Gemunu Watch under the supervision of Mrs. Manori Welegedara, the Chairperson of the Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch took place on 26 December 2023 at Kilali Roman Catholic Tamil Medium School. During the program, arrangements were made to distribute school accessories for 60 school students, along with musical equipment for the school's brass band, and 300 coconut saplings for their parents.
