Donation Programme for Gemunu Ranaviru Families at 2(V) GW - Galle

On 19th October 2024, the Seva Vanitha Branch of the Gemunu Watch (GW) hosted a donation programme to support the families of Gemunu Ranaviru. Historic Bungalow of the Gemunu Watch Reopens Following Renovation

A historic bungalow, originally constructed by the British War Office during the Second Boer War (1899-1902), has been officially renovated and reopened as a holiday retreat for officers of the Gemunu Watch. This significant structure has long served military personnel and their families, bearing witness to the trials and tribulations of both World War I and World War II.

BRIGADIER N.H. MALSINGHE RWP RSP USAWC psc ACHIEVES HISTORIC MILESTONE FROM US ARMY WAR COLLEGE

Brigadier N.H. Malsinghe RWP RSP USAWC psc, Director of the Directorate of Staff Duties, has achieved a historic milestone by graduating with a Master of Strategic Studies from the US Army War College. Notably, he has earned superior graduate status, an honour previously unmatched by any Officer from the Sri Lanka Army.

GEMUNU WATCH SEVA VANITHA BRANCH HELD A ENTERTAINMENT PROGRAM COINSIDE WITH THE UPCOMING WORLD CHILDREN’S DAY

On 1st September 2024, the Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch, led by its president, Mrs. Manori Welagedara, along with members of the Seva Vanita branch- GW, organized a special entertainment program for children of the GW family at the Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch, coincident with the upcoming World Children’s Day.

CELEBRATION OF TRADITION: THE 44TH COLOUR BLESSING CEREMONY OF THE GEMUNU WATCH

The 44th Colour Blessing Ceremony of The Gemunu Watch took place on 15 August 2024 at the sacred sites of Kiriwehera Katharagama, Ashta Pala Bodhiya, and Kataragama Dewalaya, honoring the proud heritage and dedication of the regiment. This auspicious event was held under the esteemed patronage of the Maha Sanga and Colonel of the Regiment, Major General SWB Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndc.

A TIMELY LECTURE ON SRI LANKA ARMY WAR LITERATURE FOR THE GEMUNU WATCH

In an event aimed at deepening the understanding of the rich history and sacrifices of the Sri Lanka Army, a timely and important lecture on Sri Lanka Army War Literature was held at the Regimental Centre of The Gemunu Watch. The session, conducted by Lt. Col. Sujith Chaminda Edirisinghe, took place on July 31, 2024, and was attended by over 25 officers and 300 other ranks.

HIGHLANDERS BID FAREWELL TO RETIRING MAJOR GENERAL PCL GUNAWARDANA RWP RSP psc

The farewell ceremony of Major General PCL Gunawardana RWP RSP psc was held at the Regimental Centre on 19 July 2024 at the occasion of his retirement after completing over 33 years of exceptional service in the Sri Lanka Army.

Major General PCL Gunawardana RWP RSP psc joined the Sri Lanka Army on 02 January 1991 and after commissioned on 29 August 1992 he was posted to the 6th Battalion the Gemunu Watch. During his illustrious military career, he has held many command, staff and instructor appointments in different capacities.

In a nail-biting showdown at Army Inter Regiment Football Championship – 2024, Highlanders of Gemunu Watch (GW) emerged victorious and lifted the champions trophy outclassing the Gajaba Regiment (GR) team. The high-octane summit clash between two teams was kicked off at Beddagana National Football Complex on 10 July 2024 captivating a wholehearted soccer loving crowd.
