A TIMELY LECTURE ON SRI LANKA ARMY WAR LITERATURE FOR THE GEMUNU WATCH

In an event aimed at deepening the understanding of the rich history and sacrifices of the Sri Lanka Army, a timely and important lecture on Sri Lanka Army War Literature was held at the Regimental Centre of The Gemunu Watch. The session, conducted by Lt. Col. Sujith Chaminda Edirisinghe, took place on July 31, 2024, and was attended by over 25 officers and 300 other ranks.

Lt. Col. Edirisinghe, drawing from his extensive research and explorations of significant milestones in the Sri Lanka Army's 30-year battle against LTTE terrorism, led an interactive and informative discussion. The session particularly highlighted untold truths regarding war heroics and sacrifices during extreme battles, such as the Mullaitivu debacle and the Kokavil Attack.

The lecture served not only to educate the attendees on the history of the Army’s challenges but also aimed to raise awareness among the newer generation of officers and soldiers who joined after the conflict ended in 2009. Lt. Col. Edirisinghe engaged the audience with captivating narratives that illuminated the valor and determination displayed by their predecessors in times of crisis.

Participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to learn from such a comprehensive examination of war literature, emphasizing its relevance in fostering a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made by those who served before them.

The Gemunu Watch continues to prioritize education and awareness of its storied past, ensuring that the legacy of those who fought bravely is remembered and honored by future generations.
