INTER BATTALION SEVEN SIDE FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 2023

The Gemunu Watch conducted Inter Battalion Seven Side Football Tournament on 26, 27 and 28 August 2023 at “Sivali” Ground, Rathnapura. All battalions from the Gemunu Watch competed in the event, which was meant to select talented players for the regimental football pool. The teams from the 12th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch and the 23rd Battalion of the Gemunu Watch who performed the highest standard in the event were qualified for the finals by the league system. Out of which, the team of the 23rd Battalion of the Gemunu Watch managed to overcome the rival team by scoring three goals.

FAREWELL CEREMONY FOR MAJ GEN JMRNK JAYAMANNA RWP ACCORDED MILITARY SALUTE

The farewell ceremony for Maj Gen JMRNK Jayamanna RWP was held at the Regimental Centre on 22 Aug 2023 at the occasion of his retirement after completing over 34 years of successful service in the Sri Lanka Army.

The Centre Commandant, Brigadier WBJK Wimalarathna RWP RSP welcomed the Chief Guest and invited him to review the Guard turnout at the entrance. Subsequently, the ceremonial commemoration of fallen war heroes at the monument took place. Then he was accompanied to the salute of the proud and dignified parade at the parade square of the regiment.

THE 43rd COLOUR BLESSING CEREMONY AT KATARAGAMA - 2023

43rd Colour Blessing Ceremony was held at Kataragama Pooja Bhoomi on 15th and 16th of August 2023.The main purpose of this ceremony was to mark the 43rd anniversary of receiving presidential colours and unit colours to 1st Bn of the Gemunu watch and 2nd and 3rd (volunteer) Bn of the Gemunu Watch. Also 11 years for receiving Presidential colours and Regimental colours to the Gemunu Watch.The ceremony was coordinated by COs of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Bns of the Gemunu Watch.

THE GEMUNU WATCH SEVA VANITHA BRANCH HONOURS THE WIVES AND CHILDREN OF THE FALLEN WAR HEROES

The Gemunu Watch Seva Vanita Branch and The Regimental Centre organized a commemoration ceremony for the fallen war heroes and a paying of tribute to their wives and children on 29 July 2023 at the Mylapitiya War Heroes memorial. Wives and children of fallen War Heroes who lived in and around the Kandy district belonging to the Gemunu Watch participated in the ceremony. The programme commenced with observing two minutes silence in memory of the fallen War Heroes.

THE COMMANDER OF THE ARMY VISITED THE REGIMENTAL HEADQUARTERS OF THE GEMUNU WATCH

The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, made a visit to the Regimental Headquarters the Gemunu Watch after opening ceremony the troops-built special ramp for the handicapped and devotees with special needs in Ratnapura Sri Sumana Saman Devalaya premises on Sunday 23 July 2023 morning amid a distinguished gathering of invitees.

The farewell ceremony for Brigadier A M Muttalib was held at the Regimental Centre on 15 July 2023 at the occasion of his retirement after completing over 34 years of successful service in the Sri Lanka Army.

PRESIDENT AND MEMBERS OF THE SEWA VANITHA BRANCH OF THE GEMUNU WATCH VISITED WAR HEROES AT THE “MIHINDU SETH MEDURA”

With the intention of uplifting the spirits of differently – abled war heroes and inquiring about their well-being, Mrs Manori Welagedara, Chairperson and members of the Seva Vanitha branch of the Gemunu Watch visited the “Mihindu Seth Medura” wellness resort at Attidiya on 5th July 2023.
