The Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch and the Regimental Centre organized Commemoration Ceremony for the parents on 20May 2023 at the Regimental Centre.76 parents of 50 fallen heroes participated in the commemoration at the Heroes’ Monument at the Regimental Centre and Bana Preaching Pinkama also was organized for transferring merits.
The farewell ceremony for Brigadier AMS Premawansa RWP RSP USP was held at the Regiment Centre on 19 May 2023 at the occasion of his retirement after completing over 33 years of successful service in the Sri Lanka Army.
Lt Col E A G Jayasiri USP GW, an accomplished athlete, passed away on 13 May 2023.
The Seva Vanitha Branch of Regiment organised a Refreshment Wesak Dansela at the Saparagamuwa Maha Saman Dewalaya on 05 May 2023 with the guidance of Mrs. Shalika Edirisinghe and officials of the branch. A large numbers of devotees were attracted to the Dansala and the officers and ORs of the regiment were participated the event.
The Sewa Vanitha Branch of the Gemunu Watch implemented a Cooperate social Responsibility (CSR) project with the collaboration of Department of Finance, Faculty Management of Sri Jayawardhanpura University where they upgraded the facilities of the Eknaligoda Vidyalaya, Kuruvita. The project was inaugurated on 26 April 2023 and during which a school building was renovated and much needed water system and sanitary facilities were restored.
The farewell ceremony for Brigadier P D A G Senadeera USP and Brigadier M K S S P Jayasinghe RWP RSP was held at the Regiment Centre on 08 April 2023 at the occasion of their retirement after completing over 33 years of successful service in the Sri Lanka Army.
Colonel of the Regiment, Major General EADP Edirisinghe psc, visited Gemunu Watch battalions in SFHQ(J), SFHQ (MLT) theaters which included 17 GW, 2 (v) GW, 16 (v) GW, 23 GW, 6 GW, 19 GW and 11 GW from 27 March to 31 March 2023. Further, he also visited 7 GW at Mattakkuliya on 4th April and 8 GW and RHQ Bn at Kuruvita on 5th April During the visit, he addressed troops and the officers of the battalions.
The farewell ceremony for Brigadier K P D N Chandrasena RWP RSP was held at the Regiment Centre on 12 March 2023.The occasion of his retirement after completing over 34 years of successful service in the Sri Lanka Army.
It is a tradition as such the Gemunu Watch troops bring the sacred Karaduwa and Abahrana of God of Saman to Sri Padhaya and bring them back to Erathna and Palapaththala entrances at the end of the Sri Padha session. With the participation of more than 100 troops from the Regimental Centre, sacred Karaduwa and Abahrana of God of Saman was brought back on 6 May 2023 to Palapaththala and Erathna entrances and Colonel of the Regiment, Senior officers of the Regimental Centre received the sacred items at the Palapaththala entrance and handed over to the relevant authorities.
Gemunu Seva Vanitha intends to construct a house for infantryman Hewage HG from 1 GW and the foundation stone was laid for the project by the president of the Seva Vanitha Branch the Gemunu watch Mrs. Shalika Edirisinghe on 25th of April 2023. The Colonel of the Regiment Major General Prasad Edirisinghe graced the occasion as the guest of honour and Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion the Gemunu Watch Maj LN Karunathilake RSP USP, officers and other rankers of 1 GW were present at the event. 1 GW troops will assist in the construction project.
