The farewell ceremony for Brigadier AMS Premawansa RWP RSP USP was held at the Regiment Centre on 19 May 2023 at the occasion of his retirement after completing over 33 years of successful service in the Sri Lanka Army.
The Deputy Centre Commandant, Colonel WGIS Gamage USP welcomed the Chief Guest and invited him to review the Guard turnout at the entrance. Subsequently, a ceremonial commemoration of fallen war heroes at the monument took place. Then he was accompanied to the salute of the proud and dignified parade at the parade square. Moreover, to mark the event highlighted a group photograph was taken. At the end of the day’s program, Officers and Other Ranks honored him in a street line farewell as his vehicle began to move out of the premises.
Brigadier AMS Premawansa RWP RSP USP joined Sri Lanka Army on 07 December 1990 and was commissioned on 07 December 1991. During his military career, he has held many command, staff and instructor appointments in different capacities.
All Officers and Other Ranks of the Regimental Centre extended their heartfelt gratitude to the retiring Highlander for his commitment and dedication to the Gemunu Watch. All Highlanders wished him a healthy, wealthy, peaceful, and prosperous life.
