THE GEMUNU WATCH DOMINATED INTER REGIMENT STANDARD CYCLING ROAD RACE

The Inter Regiment Cycling Championship 2023 was held on 7th and 8th September 2023 at Udawalawa. 133 cyclists participated, representing 13 regiments. By altering the Army Cycling Championship scores, the Gemunu Cycling Team was able to set a new record for the regiment history.

Following an extremely competitive challenge, the Gemunu Regiment cycling team achieved first place in the Men's Standard Road Cycling Race. S/434724 Infantryman Manukalpa KG, S/2F03544 Lance Corporal Sandunkumara HAA, S/F101786 Infantryman Perera KGTM, S/426044 Corporal Pradeep Kumara HD managed to win the 1st, 6th, 8th and 10th positions in the competition respectively. As well, S/434724 Infantryman Manukalpa KG achieved 4th place in the Individual Time Trial Standard Race, and the Gemunu Watch cycling team managed to win overall 3rdplace.

The Chairman of the Gemunu Watch Cycling Committee, Brigadier GDSM Alwis RWP RSP and Vice Chairman Lt Col IMSSK Ilankoon RWP RSP USP psc guided the competitors in preserving regimental spirit by providing them with strength and courage throughout the tournament.
