Director General Infantry Begins Duties

Major General W.B.J.K. Wimalaratne RWP RSP, Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch, assumed duties as the Director General Infantry at the Army Headquarters on 02 December 2024.
The new Director General signed the official document, symbolising his acceptance of the new office. Prior to this appointment, Major General W.B.J.K. Wimalaratne RWP RSP served as the General Officer Commanding of the 51 Infantry Division.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.

FAREWELL EVENT FOR OUTGOING CENTRE COMMANDANT MAJOR GENERAL HCL GALAPPATHTI RSP USP AT THE REGIMENTAL CENTRE THE GEMUNU WATCH

On 26 November 2024, the Regiment Centre of the Gemunu Watch held a farewell event honoring the outgoing Centre Commandant, Major General HCL Galappathti RSP USP. This significant occasion brought together officers and ranks from the Regimental Centre, including the Regimental Headquarter battalion and 8GW troops, to acknowledge Major General Galappathti’s impactful leadership.

MAJOR GENERAL WBJK WIMALARATNE ASSUMES OFFICE AS 25TH COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT OF THE GEMUNU WATCH

General Officer Commanding of the 51 Infantry Division, Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP, assumed office as the 25th Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch on Monday 18, November 2024 amidst religious observances and traditional military formalities at the Regimental Centre premises, Kuruwita.

FAREWELL CEREMONY FOR OUT GOING COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT MAJOR GENERAL SWB WELAGEDARA RSP VSV USP ndc ACCORDED MILITARY SALUTE

A farewell ceremony was held on November 17, 2024, at the Regiment Centre to honor Major General Wajira Welagedara following his retirement after over 36 years of dedicated service in the Sri Lanka Army.

Major General Welagedara began his journey in the Sri Lanka Army as an officer cadet of Intake 29, enlisting on February 22, 1988, and was commissioned on December 16, 1989. His first posting was with the 4th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch, where he exhibited exemplary leadership and commitment throughout his distinguished career, taking on numerous command and staff positions.

NEW ECO-FRIENDLY TREE HOUSE WITH NATURAL POOL INAUGURATED AT HIGHLANDER ECO AND ADVENTURE RESORT

Nonperial, November 16, 2024 – A newly constructed tree house featuring a natural pool has officially opened at the Highlander Eco and Adventure Resort, marking a significant step in modern eco-friendly concept. The innovative project was inaugurated by Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Wajira Welagedara, who praised the initiative's commitment to sustainability.

NEW DINING HALL FOR WO’S & SGT’S MESS BUILDING RENOVATION UNVEILED AT THE REGIMENTAL CENTRE THE GEMUNU WATCH

In a significant enhancement to the facilities at The Gemunu Watch, the newly constructed dining hall and renovated WO's & SGT's mess building were officially inaugurated and opening ceremony, held on November 13, 2024, was graced by Chief Guest Major General SWB Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndc, who commended the efforts in creating a modern and functional space for the troops.

The event, hosted at the Regimental Centre, honored his exceptional service and significant contributions to the nation.
