MONTHLY MEETING OF GEMUNU WATCH SEVA VANITHA BRANCH AND SCHOLARSHIP STUDENT DONATIONS

The Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch held its monthly meeting on 08 February 2025 at the Regimental Centre, led by its president, Dr. (Mrs.) Dilrukshi Wimalaratne.

During the meeting, members reviewed ongoing projects and discussed plans to further support the families of GW officers and soldiers.

In a generous act of support, Mr. Chaminda Senarathne - Operations Manager,Browns Agriculture Company pvt ltd donated two wheelchairs for the use of soldiers with battle injuries, demonstrating his commitment to their well-being.

SEVA VANITHA BRANCH OF THE GEMUNU WATCH CONDUCTED ANNUAL BODHI PUJA PINKAMA AT BELLANWILA RAJAMAHA VIHARAYA

On January 29, 2025, the Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch (GWSVBR) organized its Annual Bodhi Puja Pinkama at the Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya. The event was graced by president, Dr. (Mrs.) Dilurukshi Wimalaratne along with other members of the GWSVBR, former members of GWSVBR, Officers and Other Ranks too also participated in order to honor this traditional event.

Adding to the significance of the occasion, Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP, the Colonel of the Regiment and Centre Commandant also presented.

GEMUNU WATCH CLAIMS VICTORY AT THE 2025 ARMY INTER REGIMENT GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP

The Army Inter Regiment Golf Championship has concluded with great fanfare at the picturesque Golf Club, Nuwara Eliya, on January 15, 2025. Over two exhilarating days, golf enthusiasts witnessed fierce competition among 12 prestigious regiments over 100 talented players from the Army. In an inspiring display of skill and teamwork, the Gemunu Watch emerged as the champion, solidifying their reputation as one of the top golfing units in the Army.

GEMUNU WATCH SEVA VANITHA BRANCH CONDUCTS A MUCH NEEDED WELFARE ACTIVITY

On 19 January 2025, under the leadership of Dr (Mrs) Dilrukshi Wimalaratne, the President of the Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch and under the supervision of Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP, Colonel of the Regiment, the Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch organised a school item donation programme for the sons and daughters of the Gemunu Watch family at the Regimental Centre, the Gemunu Watch.

THE GEMUNU WATCH SEVA VANITHA BRANCH ART COMPETITION UNVEILS HIDDEN TALENTS OF ‘GEMUNU CHILDREN’

The Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch organised an art competition for the children of the Gemunu families. The ‘Pipena Viru Tharu’ art competition was the brainchild of Dr (Mrs) Dilrukshi Wimalaratne, President the Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch which was supervised by the Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP, Colonel of the Regiment, the Gemunu Watch.

THE NEWLY APPOINTED REGIMENTAL ADJUTANT ASSUMED THE OFFICE

A formal ceremony was taken place to mark the assuming of the office of the newly appointed Regimental Adjutant, the Gemunu Watch Major A V R K P Rajawardhana RWP RSP on 8th January 2025 as the Regimental Adjutant.

The incoming Adjutant was welcomed by all the Officers and Other Rankers of the Regimental Centre, the Gemunu Watch. The newly posted Adjutant assumed office, took over the duties amid religious observances and expressed his vision. All the Officers and Other Rankers of the Gemunu Watch extended their best wishes to the newly appointed Regimental Adjutant.

TRIBUTE TO A FALLEN HERO'S DAUGHTER THARAKAA SANDARENU PERERA

A special appreciation event was held at the Regimental Centre of The Gemunu Watch on 05 January 2025 In order to honor Tharakaa Sandarenu Perera, whose father laid down his life during the Eelam War in Paranthan. Despite never experiencing a father’s love, Tharakaa has inherited his iron will and courage, which have guided her journey towards greatness.

TROOPS OF GEMUNU REGIMENT CONDUCTED ROAD CLEANING PROGRAMME

With the participation of the troops of the Gemunu Watch and local community of the Kahengama general area, conducted over 2000 meters of road cleaning and conducted cleaning programme at Kahengama Sri Vidyaloka Piriven on 04 January 2025. Further restored drainage system at Edandawala junction up to the Regimental Centre on same day. The initiative was taken by troops of Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch under the guidance and participation of Colonel of the Regiment Major General WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP and Centre Commandant the Gemunu Watch.
