The Gemunu Watch Seva Vanitha Branch and The Regimental Centre organized a commemoration ceremony for the fallen war heroes and a paying of tribute to their parents ,wives and children on 09 December 2023 at the Matara War Heroes memorial. Parents , Wives and children of fallen Gemunu Watch War Heroes who lived in and around the Southern province participated to the ceremony. The programme commenced with observing two minutes silence in memory of the fallen War Heroes. Colonel of the Regiment of Gemunu Watch, Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha branch, parents ,wives and children of the fallen War Heroes paid floral tributes to the memorial.
The event was graced by the presence of Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Vajira Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndu, and the Chairperson of Seva Vanitha branch Mrs. Manori Welagedara, the Centre Commandant Brigadier HCL Galappathti RSP USP, other senior officers of the Gemunu Watch, officers and other ranks along with many members of the Seva Vanitha branch too participated in the ceremony.
Later, all participants were shown a documentary video in memory of the fallen War Heroes at Divisional Secretariat Auditorium- Matara . A souvenir was presented to them by the Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha branch. The parents, wives and children were also offered the lunch at the end of the event. The wives and children of the fallen war heroes highly appreciated the event and expressed their hopes of organizing such events in the future as well.
