STRONG CONTINGENT FROM VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENT READY TO DEPARTURE FOR UN PEACE KEEPING MISSIONS

One more Sri Lankan Army contingent, comprised of Navy and Air Force personnel on UN Peace Keeping Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), due to leave the island shortly had its passing out parade at Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Regimental Headquarters premises at Boyagane, Kurunagala on Friday (31.10.2014). The 850 strong contingent from Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment included Navy and Air Force personnel, is commanded by Colonel M.P.A.K. Wijenayake of VIR and is expected to leave during the last week of November, 2014.

FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR NEW WATER PROJECT FOR OFFICERS AND OTHER RANKS

The foundation laying ceremony for construction of new water project was taken place on 2014.10.14 at the Regimental Centre Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. The constructions was initiated following a proposal made by the Colonel Of the Regiment of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Major General NAJC Dias WWV RWP RSP USP ndc. This step is to mark the pull stop for the water problem which made much suffer for officers and other ranks in the Regimental Centre Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

Sri Lanka Army\'s Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), one of the most prestigious infantry regiments marked its 24th Anniversary on Saturday (22) with religious observances, military formalities, VIR ex-servicemen\'s programmes, military honours to newly promoted officers and other commemorative events at Boyagane, Kurunegala. \r\n\r\nMajor General Jagath Dias, Colonel of the Regiment, VIR received a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour on the anniversary day when he arrived at the VIR Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane.

\'Rana Sura Padakkama\' (RSP) Awarded to 230 More VIR War Heroes

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), one of the most prestigious infantry units of the Army, honoured one more segment of 230 War Heroes by awarding \'Rana Sura Padakkama\' (RSP) gallantry medals during a ceremony at VIR\'s \'Salute Reception\' hall at VIR Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane on Friday (21). Spouses and family members of 20 fallen VIR War Heroes and 10 retired War Heroes were included among the total of 230 gallantry medal recipients who accepted those honorary accolades from Major General Jagath Dias, Colonel of the Regiment, VIR during the ceremony.

The pet project of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR)The Vijayabahu Motor Cross at the country\'s most difficult track with fourteen bends, two double jumps and four single jumps, kicked off Sunday (30) morning at Vijayabahu track in Boyagane, Kurunegala before a large gathering of fans, drawn from every corner of the island. Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake as the Chief Guest for its inauguration at the invitation of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Jagath Dias, flagged off for its start.

Fallen, Disable & Serving VIR War Heroes Invoked Merits & Blessings on 19th December 2013

A special \'Aloka Pooja Pinkama\' organized by Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) Seva Vanitha Unit at Sambodhi Viharaya, Colombo 7, lit 2600 bulbs inside the premises and conducted the religious programme. \r\n\r\nMrs Damayanthi Ratnayake, President, Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) and Major General Jagath Dias, Colonel of the Regiment, VIR at the invitation of Mrs Saranki Dias, Chairperson, VIR Seva Vanitha Unit, took part in the religious event.
