ACCOUNT COURSE CONCLUDED SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED

According to guidance and instructions given by the Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen A Kariyakarawana USP ndu to enhance the knowledge on accounts among soldiers to get done efficient work an Account course was held at RHQVIR. Course was commenced on 26th February and concluded on 3rd March 2017 Representing all Battalions 22 other rankers were attended to the course and Cpl Rathnayake AWRMAD RSP from 6VR has become the best student out of all.

VIJAYABAHU RIDERS BECAME CHAMPIONS IN SRI LANKA ARMY

Inter Regiment Motor Racing championship was held at Saliyapura racing circuit on 3rd March 2017. \r\nThis event was organized for the first time in Sri Lanka Army Sports history and Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment crowned the championship by gaining highest points among all other Regiments.\r\nCampion rider L/Cpl Sameera Pramarathne won 1st place in Super moto event and won second place for in 250 CC Racing. L/ Cpl Nihal Wijerathne won first place in Standard 125 CC and won 2nd place in 250 CC Race.

EX SERVICEMEN ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING WAS HELD AT SALUTE RECEPTION HALL

Ex Servicemen Annual General Meeting was held at the Salute Reception hall on 4th March 2017. More than 600 members were participated to the meeting this time. Col of the Regiment Maj Gen A Kariyakarawana USP ndu grace the event as the chief guest. During the speech conducted by Col of the Regiment highlighted the how much important the service rendered by retired Officers, senior NCOs NCOs and ORs for the betterment of the Regiment.

COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT GREETS TO INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE SQUAD

Sri Lanka Commemorating 69th National Independence Day under the theme, “National Unity” in a simple, yet dignified ceremony at the Galle Face Green on 4th February 2017. Commander of the Security forces Headquarters Kilinochci and The Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen A. Kariyakarawana USP ndc has commanded the National Independence Parade and He is the first officer from Vijayabahu Infantry regiment who had opportunity to command three forces, Police, Civil Defence force and National Cadet Core in an Independence parade.

VIJAYABAHU CHRISTMAS CAROLS 2016

Christmas Carols 2016 was held at the Regimental Cinema Hall on 19th December 2016. This successful event organized the by Ms Elizabeth Jayasekera together with The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, with the presence of Rev Fr Dushantha Rodrigo the principal of the St Thomas College Kollupitiya and Professor G.P.V Somaratne of Colombo Theological Seminary.\r\n\r\n Choir from the Cathedral Kurunegala with the most celebrated melodies, came in for praise and appreciation.

8TH BATTALION VIR SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED BATTALION TRAINING

8th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment has successfully completed the Battalion Training at Air Mobile Training School Bogoda on 29th November 2016. The Training has commenced on 03rd October 2016 and the battalion has trained and practiced the field craft, tactics, map reading, physical training, jungle training, Internal Security duties, firing and also educated on civil and military laws. Junior officers could able to practice their command and control in all scenarios throughout the Battalion training.

THE COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT VIR VISITED 11 BATTALION VIR

Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen A Kariyakarawane USP ndu visited 11th Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 03 December 2016 as his first official visit of Bn. After the warm welcome by the Commanding Officer Maj HPDS Gunawarane RSP, the Battalion has awarded a Guard turnout to the Col of the Regt Major General A Kariyakarawane USP ndc. Then the group photo was taken with all officers with the Colonel of the Regiment. \r\nColonels of the Regiment addressed the battalion and appreciated the performances achieved during recent past.

100 More Scholarships Given to VIR Families

A welfare arrangement organized by the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment-Seva Vanitha Unit (VIR-SVU) for the benefit of children of fallen, disabled and serving members in the Army took place on Saturday (26) at VIR Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane. The event was organized by VIR SVU under the guidance and advice of Maj Gen A Kariyakarawana USP ndc Col of the Regiment the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and the supervision of the President VIR SVU Mrs Anuja Kariyakarawana.

VIJAYABAHU WAR HEROES GET THEIR RECOGNITION

The gallantry awarding ceremony to recognize the VIR War Heroes with Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP) and Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) was held on Monday 21 November 2016 during a dignified ceremony, held at the Regimental Centre of the Vijayabahau Infantry Regiment, Boyagane, Kurunegala. Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana USP ndc, the Colonel of the Regiment VIR presided the investiture ceremony as the Chief Guest. Senior Officers of the regiment received the Chief Guest on arrival at the premises before he was conducted to the “The Salute” Hall.
