Distribution of ‘Virusara’ Privilege Cards to War Heroes at the Regimental Centre of the The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment

The Third stage of Phase 2 of distribution of the ‘Virusara’ Privilege Cards for War Heroes and their families in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and the Civil Security Department (CSD) took place on 1st March 2016 at the premises of the Regimental Centre, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment at Boyagane, Kurunegala in a ceremony, headed by State Minister of Defence Hon Ruwan Wijewardene (MP). This ceremony was organized by The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment in collaboration with The Sri Lanka National Guard, both located at Kurunegala.

OFFICERS TRAINING DAY 2016 FEBRUARY

As per instructions given by the Commander of the Army to launch an Officers Training Day quarterly, Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) held Officers Training Day on 12 February 2016 for the second time at the Regimental Headquarters (RHQ) Boyagane KURUNEGALA , under the supervision of the Colonel of the Regiment Major General KC Gunawardena RWP USP ndu Lieutenant Colonel EEAG Welimanna psc conducted lecture about burning issues in Middle East region and after the lunch break Mrs NTK Weerasooriya conducted a lecture about building personality.

VIR HANDBALL TEAM WON THE SECOND PLACE FROM INTER REGIMENT HAND BALL TOURNAMENT 2016

FAREWELL TO COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT, MAJOR GENERAL NAJC DIAS

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 29 December 2015 bade farewell to Colonel of the Regiment, Major General NAJC Dias RWP RSP VSV USP ndc at the end of his military career, with a series of programmes at Regimental Headquarters in Boyagane\r\nThe programme kicked off with Major General NAJC Dias RWP RSP VSV USP ndc paying tribute to the fallen VIR war heroes at VIR War Heroes Monument.\r\nA Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour presented by VIR troops saluted Major General NAJC Dias RWP RSP VSV USP ndc at the Parade Grounds after he was welcomed by Center Commandant Brigadier WS Ariyasinghe RSP.

Gunawardane RWP USP ndu assumed duties as the new Colonel of the Regiment, VIR on 30 December 2015 at the Regimental Headquarters, VIR, Boyagane.\r\nOn arrival, the new Colonel of the Regiment was received in a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour, presented by VIR troops after he paid tribute to the VIR War Heroes Monument.\r\nAmidst religious observances, Major General Gunawardana placed his signature in a formal document, symbolizing the assumption of duties.\r\nVIR Center Commandant WS Ariyasinghe RSP and several Senior Officers attended the events.\r\n

New Centre Commandant Brigadier WS Ariyasinghe RSP begins duties.

Brigadier WS Ariyasinghe RSP assumed duties as the Centre Commandant of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on Thursday (22) during a simple ceremony, held at the RHQ VIR premises, Boyagane. On arrival, the new Centre Commandant was greeted to a Guard Turnout in accordance with military traditions. Amidst religious observances and Pirith chanting, Brigadier WS Ariyasinghe RSP placed his signature in a document, symbolizing the assumption of duties.
