According to the guidance and instructions given by Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen KC Gunawardane RWP.USP.ndu for uplifting the ability and skills of Calypso groups in Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment a workshop was conducted from 1st October to 16th October 2016.\r\n Mr Anura Jayasinghe member of the very famous music band in Sri Lanka \"La Ceylonians\" and Captain Damian Mcleod who represented Ranaviru Real Star and presently performing duties in Sri Lanaka Army Band were attended as instructors of this valuable event.

DSCSC selection examination was held on 08 to 12 August 2016 at Sri Lanka Artillery Regimental Headquarters Panagoda. Ten officers from VIR selected to follow the most valuable officers Career course in Sri Lanka Defence Forces at Staff College Batalanda. Col of the Regiment invited all ten officers to congratulate on 09 September 2016 to the Regimental Headquarters Boyagane. Maj Gen KC Gunawardene RWP RSP ndu highly appreciated achievement they gained and The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment become the top amount of officers selected from one Regiment in year 2016.

Army Carom tournament was held at Mattegoda Army Camp on 12 to 15 June 2016. Altogether 13 regiments were participated for the meet and Team which participated from Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment won the championship for year 2016. Col of the Regiment Maj Gen KC Gunawaradane RWP USP was highly appreciated this victory and congratulate to all players who helped to shine the name of the Regiment and also Colonel of the Regiment highlighted the need of enlist new players for carom and how it will be benefitted for the future.

The Vijayabahu Motocross - 2016, organized by Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment in collaboration with Sri Lanka Racing Riders Association and Sri Lanka Motorcycle Riders Association was held at Vijayabahu Motocross circuit at Boyagane on 26 June 2016.

The annual motor racing event ‘Vijayabahu Supercross - 2016’, organized by the Sri Lanka Army Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) for the 14th consecutive year at VIR tracks in Boyagane will take place on 26 June with the participation of 100 competitors, including some foreign riders, so said Major General KavindaKC Gunawardane RWP USP ndu Colonel of the Regiment, VIR during a Media briefing at the BMICH on Tuesday (21).

As per the direction given by the Colonel of the Regiment of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment began a PCS Refresher course on 17 May 2016 at RHQ VIR for the officers who eligible to face for the staff college entrance examination 2016. The valuable Opening address done by Col SUMN Mannage RWP RSP PSC and he shows the importance of the qualifying PSC as an officer. All officers who are following the course received a pack of stationary items for each. Centre Commandant Brigadier WS Ariyasinghe RSP handed over those stationary item packs among officers.

Making a three day official visit, the Chief of Defence Forces of Royal Thai Armed Forces, General Sommai Kaotira arrived in Sri Lanka on Tuesday 26 April 2016. General Kaotira is making the visit to the country upon an invitation by the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke.
