According to the guidance and instructions given by Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen KC Gunawardane RWP.USP.ndu for uplifting the ability and skills of Calypso groups in Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment a workshop was conducted from 1st October to 16th October 2016.\r\n Mr Anura Jayasinghe member of the very famous music band in Sri Lanka \"La Ceylonians\" and Captain Damian Mcleod who represented Ranaviru Real Star and presently performing duties in Sri Lanaka Army Band were attended as instructors of this valuable event. After conducting bunch of practice sessions, day by day could be able to observed improvements of Vijayabahu Calypso groups. \r\n End of the workshop programme, Calypso Fusion was held at RHQVIR gymnasium on 16th October 2016. It was a very colorful event and families of all officers and Other Rankers were invited to witness the event. \r\n5th Battalion, 15th (v) Battalion and RHQ VIR Calypso groups selected for the Grand finale and 15th (V) VIR won the Champion trophy and Rs 100000 Cash prize. RHQVIR group able to kept the 1st Runners up trophy at the Regimental Headquarters they were awarded Rs 75000 cash prize. 2nd Runners up trophy and Rs 50000 cash prize won by 5th Battalion. Many senior officers, Officers Other Rankers of the Regiment with their families enjoyed and got an experience of calypso fusion which was organized for the 1st time in the glorious Vijayaba history.\r\n
