Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Commemorated its 28th Anniversary

Troops of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) commemorated its 28th Anniversary at Regimental Headquarters, Boyagane on 22 March 2018 under supervision of Major Genarel A kariyakarawana.

On arrival at the Headquarters premises,The Colonel of the Regiment VIR gave a floral tribute to the Ranaviru Monument at the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and later he received a Guard Turnout, andceremonial parade.

During the programme, the Colonel of the Regiment VIR planted a tree sapling at the Headquarters premises.

FIELD VISIT OF OFFICER CADETS TO REGIMENTAL CENTRE VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENT

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment was visited by Officer Cadets under training at Diyatalawa Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) (Intakes-85,86) at Friday (9) during the field visit as a part of their familiarization component in the curriculum.

The Vijayabahu Infantry RegimentCenter Commandant, Brigadier W S Ariyasinghe, together with Staff Officers at the Regimental Centre, VIR welcomed those visiting Cadet Officers and Officer Instructors to the RHQ premises.

“Udarai Oba”was Organized by the Arya Foundation this Year at the Boyagane Camp.

The "Udarai Oba" programme, co-sponsored by "Arya Foundation", was held on 03rd March 2018 at the "The Salute" Reception Hall in the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Centre at Boyagane.

The programme was organized with lectures and entertaining events. Valuable gift items, artificial limbs, scholarships and school equipment were presented in the event.

‘Sihinayakse’ Music Album was Launched by VIR War Hero Corporal Charith Kulathilake.

The second music album, ‘Sihinayakse’ of the ‘Abimansala-1’, Anuradhapura resident, visually impaired but differently able, Corporal Charith Kularuwan Kulathilake of the 5 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), the War Hero who made a name for himself in the ‘Ranaviru Real Star’ musical talent programme was presented to the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake Sunday (25) evening at the Defence Services College, Colombo 2.

VIJAYABAHU MOTOCROSS MEDIA BRIEFING 2017

The year exciting motor racing event, Vijayabahu Motorcross - 2017, organized by the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment for the 15th consecutive year in Boyagane, Kurunegala will take place on 2 April. Over 100 competitors, including some foreign riders are expected to compete in the event, so said Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Colonel of the Regiment, VIR and Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi, during a Media briefing in Colombo on 17 March 2017.

VIJAYABAHU INFANTRY REGIMENT PROUDLY CELEBRATED IT IS 27TH ANNIVERSARY

Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment proudly celebrated it is 27th anniversary on 22nd March 2017. Programme was arranged with flag blessing ceremony at Sri Dalada Maligawa Kandy, providing lunch for home for the elders, lunch for children home Kurunegala and celebrated many activities during the anniversary.According to the guidance and instructions given by Commander Security Forces Kilinochchi and the Col of the Regiment Maj Gen A. Kariyakarawane USP ndc Regimental day celebrations commenced invoking blessing for flags at the temple of Tooth Relics at Sri Dalada Maligawa , Kandy on 21st March 2017.

THE COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT VIR VISITED 11 BATTALION VIR

Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen A Kariyakarawane USP ndu visited 11th Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment on 03 December 2016 as his first official visit of Bn. After the warm welcome by the Commanding Officer Maj HPDS Gunawarane RSP, the Battalion has awarded a Guard turnout to the Col of the Regt Major General A Kariyakarawane USP ndc. Then the group photo was taken with all officers with the Colonel of the Regiment. Colonels of the Regiment addressed the battalion and appreciated the performances achieved during recent past. He also highlighted the vision and the mission of every soldier to have with their mind and given an aspiration to make the battalion as the best battalion among other 23 battalions. After the troop addressed Commanding officer briefed the duties and responsibilities of the battalion have been performing in their AOR. Centre Commandant Brig WS Ariyasinghe RSP and Regiment Adjutant also attended the event with the Colonel of the Regiment.

OFFICERS TRAINING DAY

The direction given by the Comd of the Army and the supervision of the Col of the Regt, The officers training day for the second quarter of 2017 was successfully conducted with the participation of 271 officers at RHQ VIR on 09 June 2017 which was the highest number participated ever in the history of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. The well-known scholars assisted by sharing their invaluable knowledge and experience throughout the day Which started with the physical training in the morning, sword drill for the officers, Welcome address by the Col of the Regt, lecture on Cyber war fare conducted by major TDT Wijesinghe from 12 SLSC (Cyber Security),Art of Life by Dr. Thushari Welagedara, Group Presentation Battle of Vijithapura  by 23 VIR officers, finally Dinerâ Club on China Belt and Road Initiative and Global Implications conducted by prof. Amal Jayawardana.

VIR Celebrates Bakmaha Ulela

The Sinhala and Tamil New Year has become an important national festival for both Sinhala Buddhists and the Tamil Hindus of Sri Lanka. It is unique because it is not celebrated in any other country as a national festival. Viajayabahu Aurudu Festival was held at Regimental ground on 29th April 2017. Col of the Regiment Maj Gen Ajith Kariyakarawane USP ndc grace as the event as the chief guest.
