‘Sihinayakse’ Music Album was Launched by VIR War Hero Corporal Charith Kulathilake.

The second music album, ‘Sihinayakse’ of the ‘Abimansala-1’, Anuradhapura resident, visually impaired but differently able, Corporal Charith Kularuwan Kulathilake of the 5 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), the War Hero who made a name for himself in the ‘Ranaviru Real Star’ musical talent programme was presented to the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake Sunday (25) evening at the Defence Services College, Colombo 2.

For the second time, the assistance lent to him by Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army and Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Colonel of the Regiment, VIR prompted him to produce the album with 16 new songs while spending time at ‘Abimansala-1’ Anuradhapura.

Launch of the CD ‘Sihinayakse’ was graced by Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army as the Chief Guest, together with Mrs Chandrika Senanayke, President, Army SevaVanitha Unit and a host of invitees at the invitation of Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Colonel of the Regiment, VIR and the vocalist, Corporal Charith Kularuwan Kulathilake.

On arrival, the Chief Guest, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army was warmly received by Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, Colonel of the Regiment, VIR and ushered to the main auditorium amidst melodies of bagpipers and Ves dancers of the Army cultural troupe.

The formal welcome address was delivered by Ms Sumithra Godage, veteran author as a start of the event.

The album ‘Sihinayakse’ contains new creative lyrics with melodies provided by veteran musicians in the country.

As the proceedings got underway, the main CD copy was first presented to Mrs Wimala Amaradewa the spouse of late Maestro Pandith Amaradewa and Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army by the vocalist, followed by its presentation to other distinguished invitees and several others after formalities and traditions, like oil-lamp lighting, theme songs, two-minute silence in memory of fallen war heroes, etc took place.

Due to the blessings of late Maestro Pandith Amaradewa and Mrs Wimala Amaradewa as well as the encouragement and unfailing support he received, the war Hero made his debut earlier with his first album, ‘RanaHanda Esunawe’.

The War Hero, Kulathilake of the 5 VIR who lost his sight and also became physically handicapped as a result of a terrorist explosion in Muhamalai front line, succeeded in entering the final round of the ‘Ranaviru Real Star - Mission 3’ among 12 finalists a few years back.

The new CD includes 16 new songs and melodies provided by Mr Vijitha Jayaratne, Mr Susil Abeyratne, Major D.A Gunaratne, Mr Samantha Perera, Mr Ravindra Algiyawanna, Mr Darshana Deepal, Mr Amil Taranga, Mr Dilan Ramanayake, Mr Ajith Sanjeewa Perera, Mr Chanuka Jayasinghe and Ms Darshani Chandrasena. The lyrics to the songs were composed by Mr Kalpa Ranasinghe, Mr Anura Priyankara, Major A.D Gunaratne, Mr Mahesh Somapala, Mr Vijitha Jayaratne, Ms Inoka Wakotuwa, Ms Sumithra D Godage, Mr Ruwan Prasanna Peries, Ms Shayamali Gallage and Ms Niluka Sanjeewani Fernando.

Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage, Commander, Security Forces - West, Centre Commandant and all other staff Officers of RHQ VIR, Officers and Other Ranks of VIR all Battalions, renowned vocalists, lyrics writers, artistes, the spouse of the vocalist, relatives, ‘Abimansala’ and ‘Mihindu Sethmedura’ inmates and a large gathering extended their greetings to the occasion.
