Vijayabahu Infantry regiment wins the Third Place in Army Para Games

By Keeping a step forward to make reality of the mission to make as the best Regiment among all other Regiments in Sri Lanka Army, Differently-able sportsmen including 2 Officers and 101Other Rankers of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, showcased their unparalleled sports skills during their landmark three-day long ‘20th Army Para Games - 2017’ brought the tournament to end at Diyagama Stadium on 24th November 2017 afternoon. The tournament that covered track and field events came to a climax with athletic and relay events taking the centre-stage in the during three days.

Seva Vanitha Branch tribute tributes Service of Civil Servants

Vijayabahu Seva Vanitha Branch has organized an event of appreciating of the civil servants who have dedicated their valuable service to the Vijayabahu Infaantry Regiment. According to guidance and instructions given by the Hon President of VIR Seva Vanitha Branch Mrs Anuja Kariyakarawana, 100 Families of Civil Servants have been received dry ration packs and Stationary packs for their children.

THE BATTALION VISIT OF VIR BNS DEPLOYED IN THE SECURITY FORCE (J) AND SECURITY FORCE (W)

The battalion visit of VIR battalions, deployed in Security Force (J) and Security Force (W) was conducted on 14th and 15th Aug 2017 by the Colonel of the Regiment Major General A Kariyakarawana USP ndc. Following events were included for the event. a. Guard Turnout. b. Tree Planting. c. Troops Address. f. Camp Visit.

QUARTER MASTERS AND REGIMENTAL QUARTER MASTER SERGEANTS WORKSHOP CONCLUDED SUCCESSFULLY.

To get sufficient work done by enhancing knowledge about the subject on Q and log matters a workshop held at RHQVIR for unit QMs and RQs. According to the guidance and instructions given by the Col of the Regiment Maj Gen Ajith Kariyakarawana USP ndc this course was commenced on 4th September 2017 and concluded on 08th September 2017. During the four days of the workshop many subjects have been discussed by Regimental Log Staff as well as visiting lectures. Subjects were discussed as bellows. 1. Responsibilities of Quarter Masters. 2. Functioning of the Q Stores.

MOTOR TRANSPORT OFFICERS’ WORKSHOP

A motor Transport Officers’ Workshop was conducted for unit MTOs and MT clerks in order to enhance their knowledge on MT procedures from 02nd Aug 17 to 04th Aug 17 at the RHQ VIR under the instrs and guidance of Maj Gen A Kariyakarawana USP ndc - Col of the Regt. For this workshop 23 x offrs and 26 x ORs attended from 24 bns. The opening address was conducted by the Centre Comdt Brig WS Ariyasinghe RSP and visiting lectures from SLCMP and Sri Lanka Police conducted lectures. The closing ceremony and certificate awarding ceremony for course participants was held at Archers’ Cinema Hall.

NEW US DEFENCE ATTACHÉ CALLS AT RHQ VIR

Senior Defence Official and Defence Attaché of the United States Embassy in Sri Lanka, Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Hess during a tour, had a courtesy meeting with the Centre Commandant Brigadier Srinath Ariyasinghe at Regimental Headquarters - VIR on 03 August 2017. During the meeting, general matters have been discussed. Brigadier Srinath Ariyasinghe presented a memento at the end of the meeting as a token of appreciation for visiting the RHQ. Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Hess left his compliments in the RHQ VIR visitors’ book.

RSMs\' WORKSHOP

In accordance with the direction and supervision of the Col of the Regt of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment Maj Gen A Kariyakarawana USP ndc, a workshop for RSMs was successfully conducted for the first time of its history from 06th July 2017 to 13th July 2017 at the Regimental Centre VIR in order to enhance the knowledge on their duties and responsibilities. For this workshop 24 X WO I and 05 X WO II from 24 battalions attended. The opening address was conducted by the Centre Comdt Brig WS Ariyasinghe RSP.

Vijayabahu boxers won the championship of the inter Regiment boxing. This achievement was gained to the Regiment for the first time in its prestigious and proud history.

The meet was held at Panagoda Army Cantonment boxing ring on 10th March 2017. Maj Gen MHS Boniface Perea RWP RSP USP ndu psc grace the event as the chief guest. Strong Vijayabahu boxers fought against all Other regiments but non of them could able to defeat the strength of wining spirit. Vijayabahu Boxers won 4 gold medals 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.

ACCOUNT COURSE CONCLUDED SUCCESSFULLY CONCLUDED

According to guidance and instructions given by the Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen A Kariyakarawana USP ndu to enhance the knowledge on accounts among soldiers to get done efficient work an Account course was held at RHQVIR. Course was commenced on 26th February and concluded on 3rd March 2017\r\nRepresenting all Battalions 22 other rankers were attended to the course and Cpl Rathnayake AWRMAD RSP from 6VR has become the best student out of all.
