Major General A Kariyakarawana USP ndc assumed duties as the new Colonel of the Regiment, VIR on 31 October 2016 at the Regimental Headquarters, VIR, Boyagane.\r\nOn arrival, the new Colonel of the Regiment was received in a Guard Turnout and a Ceremonial Parade presented by VIR troops after he paid tribute both VIR War Heroes Monument and the PWV Monument.\r\nAfter the ceremonial customaries Maj Gen A Kariyakarawana USP ndc planted a tree to mark the date he has taken the responsibility of glorious Vujayabahu Infantry Regiment.\r\nAmidst religious observances, Major General A Kariyakarawana USP ndc placed his signature in a formal document, symbolizing the assumption of duties.\r\nAfter assume duties as the Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen A Kariyakarawana USP ndc addressed troops at the Regimental Gymnasium. New Colonel of the Regiment highlighted importance of working loyally and vision should be to see Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment as the best Regiment among other all Regiments \r\nVIR Center Commandant WS Ariyasinghe RSP , several Senior Officers and Battalion Commanding Officers gathered at the home of Vijayabahu to witness the assume duties by the new Colonel Of the Regiment.\r\n
