\"Bak-Maha-Ulela 2015\" (New Year Festival) organized by the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) with the co-ordination of VIR Seva Vanitha Unit was held on Sunday 19th May 2015 amidst a large gathering of VIR Senior Officers, disabled war-heroes,and members of the VIR Seva Vanitha Unit along with their loving families.
Major General NAJC Dias WWV RWP RSP USP ndc, the Colonel of the Regiment VIR graced the occasion as the Chief Guest together with Mrs Sharanki Dias,Chairperson,VIR Seva Vanitha Unit, Both of them were welcome by Colonel DMKDB Pussella RWP RSP, the Centre Commandant and conducted to the main venue in a procession, preceded by Ves dancers.
The variety of traditional folk-games and fun-making events such as bun eating, the best laugh, fancy dress competition, musical chairs, cross country races, slow movement cycling, tug of war, pillow-fighting, marathon races, balancing games, hurdle runs, spotting the elephants\' eye, Hitting the pot, weaving Coconut leaves etc. And also VIR did not forget the support extended by the civilian staff .Special events such as 100m race and mini-obstacle race were organized exclusively for them and all civilian staff members awarded with an \"Aluth Awurudhu\" gift. At the climax of the event Awurudhu-Kumari Pageant and the Awaurudhu-Kumara Pageant grabbed the attention of entire mass.
A huge gathering of senior officers, other ranks and well-wishers witnessed the days event. Awurudhu Celebrations came into an end.
