As per the concept of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Swarna Bothota, enabling underprivileged families to uplift their living standard, the Civil Affairs Coordinating Office at Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) organized a donation of 2 goats valued at Rs 35,000.00

52 Infantry Division Arrange Sri Ghanadurga Amman Kovil for Annual Rituals

To maintain goodwill among the Army and Tamil Community, with the direction of the General Officer Commanding, 52 Infantry Division, Major General K P S A Fernando RWP RSP ndu, Officers and the Other Ranks of 52 Infantry Division organised and participated for the cleaning programme at Sri Ghanadurga Amman Kovil at Eluthumadduval North, on 25 February 2023, prior to the annual religious celebrations scheduled on early March.

Troops Renovate Nagathampiran Kovil Road on Request of Kovil Committee

On 09 February 2023, troops from 10 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment of 553 Infantry Brigade under command to 55 Infantry Division of the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna assisted in the renovation of the Nagathampiran Kovil road. The deteriorating road provided access to the ancient Nagathampiran Kovil and Nagarkovil village of Vadamarachchi - East Divisional Secretariate. On the request of the Kovil Committee, the Commanding Officer of 10 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Major KHC Samanpriya directed the troops to launch this community project under the guidance of the Commander of the 553 Infantry Brigade, Colonel Janak Premathilake. Troops of the 553 Infantry Brigade and the 10 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, Grama Niladhari of Nagarkovil (South), members of the Nagathampiran Kovil committee and civilians in the area participated in the programme.

Distribution of Blazers to School Prefects in Line with 75th Independence Day Celebrations in 55 Infantry Division

Distribution of 35 number of Blazers to school Prefects had taken place in a charming ceremony held in line with 75th Independence Day ceremonies of 55 Infantry Division on 02nd February 2023. 18 x Prefects from Ceylon Catholic Tamil Mixed School, Kovilvayal and 17 x Prefects from Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed School, Pulopallai were benefited. Major General Prasanna Gunaratne, the General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division, had led the effort to great success.

75th Independence Day Celebrations in Point Pedro

On 04th February 2023, 55 Infantry Division joined in celebrating the 75th Independence Day by conducting a series of programmes at Colins Ground Nelliadi in Point Pedro, one of the most populous regions in Jaffna Peninsula. Within the overall concept of the President, Ranil Wickremesinghe, to mark the 75th independence across the country, celebrations in Jaffna are predominantly significant in terms of national peace and harmony. This was the first time in modern history that an Independence Day celebration was held in the Jaffna Peninsula.

55 Infantry Division Vested a New House on the Account of 75th Independence Day Celebrations

The Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Swarna Bothota handed over keys of a new house to Mr S Sudan on 03rd January 2023, who is a residence of Muhavil, Kilinochchi. This was an event conducted in accordance with 75th Independence Day activities of the 55 Infantry Division as per the conceptual guidance of General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne.
