Army Vested Another New House for a Needy Family in Thunnalai - Karaveddy

The Sri Lanka Army, with the support of a philanthropic donor and dedicated troops, has built a new home as the 767th project for a deserving family in Thunnalai (S), Karaveddy. On 06th April 2023, the beneficiaries received their new home in the presence of Major General Swarna Bothota, Commander of Security Forces Jaffna.

Mrs. Radiswaran Raseswari and her differently - abled husband, along with their four children, were able to move into a beautiful new home that the Army had constructed for them. This would not have been possible without the generous donation from Mrs. ThabithaChinnaiah and Vanni Aid, which was coordinated through the Lions Club of Modera/Mattakkuliya by Major General Ravi Rathnasingham (Retired).

The 4th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment provided vital manpower and technical expertise for the construction workunder the supervision of Brigadier Jude Kariyakarawana, Commander of the 551 Infantry Brigade, and with guidance of Major General Prasanna Gunaratne, General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division.

The ceremony to mark the occasion included the symbolic handing over of the keys to the new home, and the distribution of dry ration packets, kitchen and home appliances to the beneficiaries by the chief guest. Commanders of 551 and 552 Infantry Brigades, Senior Officers, Mr. N Jeganathan, Mrs. UmakanthanSivakamy, Assistant Divisional Secretary Karaweddy with Government officials, other inviteesand civilians were also present at the event.

The Sri Lankan Army's efforts to build this new home for a deserving family is a testament to their commitment to serving their community and making a positive impact in people's lives.
