The pinnacle of the re-constructed Stupa at historical Tissa Viharaya in Kankasanthurai was held under the patronage of Major General Swarna Bothota, the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) on 27thApril 2023 at the auspicious time amidst reverberating pirith chanting of Maha Sangha. The Stupa was re-constructed on the admonition of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) and under the guidance of Ven. Ginthota Nandarama Thero, Chief Incumbent of Tissa Viharaya.
The history of Tissa Viharaya runs way back to the 300 century AD as a Buddhist Vihara built by King Devanampiyatissa.
The religious ceremony was held dignified by the presence of Maha Sangha, Officers, Other Ranks and devotees. The construction of this stupa was completed with the unstinting efforts of the troops of Security Forces (Jaffna).
