A special educational seminar which was organized for GCE O/L candidates by SJMS Welfare and CSR in Colombo 04 was held at Samanthurai Al Marjana Girls\' School and Damana Madawalalanda Maha Vidyalaya on 07 and 08 November 2015. Special lectures on Mathematics, Science and English were conducted for 87 x Sinhala and 340 x Muslim students with the coordination of 24 Div and 241 Bde.

12(V) Sri Lanka Artillery under the 232 Brigade of 23 Division in the AOR of Security Forces (East) organized a \"Sharamadana\" campaign at Kudumbimalai Kenegeshwaram Pullayar Kovil on 09 Nov 2015. 00x08 Army personnel participated for this event.

All officers and Other Ranks of the HQ 23 Division donated a newly constructed house for a low income family at Aselapura, who lived in a temporary hut with two little girls.\r\n\r\nOn 12 Nov 2015, at the invitation of Major General DDUK Hettiarrachchi RSP USP ndu psc - GOC 23 Division, Commander SF HQ (E) - Major General N J Walgama RSP VSV USP ndu psc participated for the house warming ceremony and the new house was formally handed over to the family.

A special educational seminar for GCE O/L candidates was organized by 6 VIR on the subjects of Mathematics, Science and English at Vivekananda College on 22 Nov 2015. Approximately 247 students participated and the seminar was conducted by the instructors of Zonal Education Department.

Newly constructed building was declared opened by General Officer Commanding of 23 Division Major General DDUK Hettiarachchi RSP USP ndu psc at Sri Pantharma Temple Vellaveli on 27 November 2015. Commander 231 Brigade , Commanding Officer 11 (V) SLSR, several Military Officers and devotees participated for the opening ceremony. Contribution of tps for the construction of this building was provided by 11(v) SLSR.

Troops of 3 (V) VIR under Security Force (East) provided Military Assistance for the blood donation programme held at Ashrof Memorial Hospital, Kalmunai on 30 November 2015. Commanding Officer of 3 (V) VIR and 03 x 17 Army personnel participated for this meritorious deed.

A two day workshop was conducted for Physical Training Instructors serving in SF(E) AOR on 26 and 27 November 2015, with the intention of enhancing their knowledge on Physiotherapy and Positive thinking. Lt Col LRTD Herath CR along with 06 x Physiotherapists conducted the workshop for 03 x 43 PTIs at this HQ under the supervision of Directorate of Sports.

Walk for Sight - Vision 2020 Programme which was organized by Regional Director of Health Service – Ampara for raising funds for the differently able civilians, was conducted from Nuwaragalathenna to Padiyathalawa on 28 and 29 November 2015 with the coordination of 241 Bde and 16 SLNG. 01 x 20 Military personnel with 37 civilians participated for the 1st day programme and 01 x 20 Military personnel with 41 civilians participated for the 2nd day programme. Refreshments and other assistance were extended to the participants as instr by HQ SF(E).

An awareness programme on \"Preventing Child Abuse and Women Harassment\" was conducted by Mrs Shiromi Maskorale, National Psychological Adviser and Mr Manoj Samarasekara, Chief Inspector of Police Child and Women Bureau with the assistance of 22 Div at the Auditorium of Vivekananda College on 06 Dec 2015.\r\nNearly 700 Security Forces members from SL Army, SL Navy, SL Air Force, Civil Defence Force and Civil Society were educated at this progamme. \r\n

24 Division celebrated its 2nd anniversary in a grand scale on 11, 12 and 14 Dec 2015 at Div HQ premises with pomp and colour. A well attended ceremony was conducted under the patronage of Maj Gen PMR Bandara WWV USP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding of 24 Division.\r\n\r\nThe proceedings of the first day were commenced with the Guard of honour given to General Officer Commanding of 24 Division by the troops 3(V) VIR. Following day, giving priority to religious events, a Pirith Chanting Ceremony and an Alms Giving to Maha Sanga were taken place.
