12 SLNG TROOPS SAFELY TRANSPORTED PEOPLE THROUGH THE FLOODED AREA

Due to the bad weather condition that have affected the Island, the water level in Valachchenai Aru has risen rapidly due to the opening of the sluice gates of Rugam reservoir, which is the main reservoir in the Batticaloa district, and the heavy rain falling to the surrounding water catchment areas. Due to the situation, the road leading from Kiran through Pulipanchikal to Toppigala, Kudimbimale and Periyawadduwan has been flooded at several places. Due to its impact, a large number of civilians many villages located in Divisional Secretary area of Koralepattu South region have been in dire straits.

ASSISTING TO RECOVERY OF FLOOD SITUATION DUE TO HEAVY RAIN

According to the guidance of the GOC 22 Infantry Division Major General GMN Perera RWP RSP USP ndu and the Brigade Commander of 221 Infantry Brigade Col AK Peiris RSP, with the close supervision of the Commanding Officer of 20th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment, the troops of 20 GR conducted the drainage system clearing program for flood affected community of Pulmoddai Ward No 1 Hairiya Road and Pulmoddai Ward No 2 Sathkuwanagar (near to Lanka Mineral and Sand Limited) on 14th November 2023 due to heavy rain.

EDUCATIONAL SESSION FOR 23 INFANTRY DIVISION TROOPS ON ACCOUNTING PROCEDURES IN THE ARMY

Under the directives of Commander Security Forces - East, Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, Account Office organized an educational workshop on Army accounting procedures for the troops of the 23 Infantry Division and its subordinate units. The aim was to elevate and refine their understanding of accounting procedures and ensure their accurate application across various domains. The workshop was conducted on 14 November 2023, at Headquarters 23 Infantry Division in Punani.

Magalin Perera who lives with her elderly husband at No. 230 Monarathenna, Welikanda, troops of 9 SLA with the technical support of a CES were guided to construct the kitchen roof and renovate the house roof where this elderly couple lived
